Losing fitness

I have been doing 3-4 a week hard and very hilly rides, for the last 3-4 months, to get in shape for a week in the Alps in 3 weeks time.
However I fell ill on Friday with a very heavy cold, havent ridden yet and judging by the state of me probably won't until Weds I reckon.
Just got me a bit worried I'm going to lose a bit of my fitness, or will it be easy for me to get to where I was prior going away in that time, with missing a weeks worth of riding?

The rest will probably do you more good than harm, a week won't hurt you at all I doubt.
I have just had a rough week, with only doing recovery rides, still managed a 20 min 10 on Sat, followed by a 52min 25 on the Sunday0 -

What you don't believe me? :roll:0 -
:P @ OP don't worry about it your body will barely of changed because of the length of time you've been doing this but you do need to start riding ASAP because it's only a small amount of time before the positive effects are coming off.
when you do start cycling again and you do feel your performance has dropped it wont be too long to build it back up again! so don't worry and enjoy your training/breaks.Coveryourcar.co.uk RT Tester

I had an enforced break due to a new build. 14 days without a ride. I got on last week and did 100 miles in 5.5 hours and felt great, really good, like I could have ridden all day. I am sure youll be fine.0

Smashing, thanks for the encouraging replies, now it's just be patient I guess; always desperate to ride when I've been ill in the past.0

Looks like someone needs to think before they cast doubts. Some of us don't lie about our cycling achievements to appear better than we may be:

I am sure SBezza doesn't feel the need to justify himself to you, but just thought I'd take the chance to show you up.0 -
I love it when that happens. Why would SBezza lie to impress people on here.
Many thanks Celbianchi.0
