Went up about 2 miles worth of 10% hill on Saturday, made it to the top and was pretty happy with it, most of this area is flat. Should have checked the condition of the road before launching down it though, damn its scary at 45mph and your dodging potholes.

Whats it like in Majorca/Tenerife? Been thinking of a holiday with the bike.

    Majorca was fun for me.
No need to hump bike over either unless you are deeply attached to your own... hire one

    is simples.. great service

could just be a tad hot right now on the roads ...
  • I just checked and the last 1/4 mile of that hill was 12%.

What are the inclines like, is it something a relative newbie can handle? distance isnt really an issue, its only whether i'd fail at the first sign of uphill. On the weather, I know its scorchio at the moment, it was more for an autumn/winter thing.

Nothing as epic as the Pyranees or Alps but I found them good fun and challenging.
You'll see signs with % ave gradient 6% for 7 kms for instance - enough to sharpen the focus.
There are some sharper ones of course.
If you have enough of the hills, the island has also lots of flat.

Hills abroad tend to be much longer than in Uk but whether this applies to Mallorca...? And having the right gears is always a help....

Puig Major is a fairly descent climb, a nice ride is to go over the colle de Soller then over Puig Major to Inca.
