Get a bunch together and find a local karting center, you'll soon find out that it's not all about the car.

It must be, it's in the sports section in all the newspapers.

And the TV companies put it in their sports programmes.

And that fat b@stard Ernest Hemmingway knew nothing about sport, before anyone quotes his "wisdom".

The worst sporting comeback was by Bjorn Borg in 1991. He was 34 and been retired for 8 years. He returned with wooden rackets too. He entered 12 tournaments over two years and lost in the first round of every single one of them.

Yep, that makes sense comparing karting (where everyone drives basically the same kart) to Formula 1 where the main aim is to engineer a car that goes faster than all the others within a framework of rules. :?

As NapD said, weight is a key in karting given drivers of a reasonably similar skill level (as you would expect F1 drivers to have).

Disagree that F1 is boring now though, I'm not a fan but some of the racing this season has been excellent (there's even been overtaking! )

    Football's only a game.
    Motor racing is sport.

    Also, golf isn't sport, it's a game
    Fishing isn't sport.

    ...

(sits back and waits for angry retaliation from golfists and anglerisers) ...

I fish and agree that it isn't a sport; it's a hobby or a means to an end.

    F1 is a sport.

agree - he has come back for the money (gods knows why) and in reality, to find out others are better than him

what a bad loser and some dangerous driving - lets hope he walks before the end of the season, I suppose the day a Lotus out qualifies him would seal it - come on mike Gasgoine - do your stuff

and as long as he is there it keeps a younger star out of F! what price Anthony Davidson - who was brilliant at Le Mans on saturday, taking over - yes please

F1, like darts or snooker, cannot be considered a sport.

I don't know if there's an official definition, but I consider the difference between a game and a sport is that with a sport physical fitness gives you an advantage. Therefore darts is a game, but F1 is a sport. You can be as skillful a driver as any in the world, but if you aren't fit your head will fall off after about 5 laps. And whoever said that F1 doesn't involve skill is a fool of the highest order. No offence

I'll call F1 a sport when the drivers have to pedal their cars.

I remember seeing Hamster trying a low end formula car and he really struggled. Oh and no, golf's not a sport it's walking which is like going shopping :P Oh wait, the accuracy of hitting the ball...er, that's like throwing a can into a bin...er yeah, that's it; mmmm that said most scroats can't get rubbish into a bin...

    I'm just rambling now aren't I?
