What are you wearing on your commute?

Last couple of days I've got home sopping wet with perspiration so I've put away my windproof long sleeve top for the summer.
Today I'm in a short sleeve summer top + a gillet... It's muggy, it's cooler. There's rain in the air and I was nearly blown off the Severn Bridge this evening (OK, slight exageration but there were times when I was leaning over heavily supported on the gale  ).
Once I'd warmed up it wasn't too bad, not convinced it was ideal though. Something long sleeved but wicking maybe? Wonder what cycling garments others are using. It's 15 miles each way btw.

6% bodyfat - that's how
Oh. I see.

Shorts, s/s jersey + socks and shoes and I'm still a right sweaty herbert by the time I get home. If I could convert some of the heat I generate into forward motion, I'd be a LOT faster. Oh, and I'm a bit of a whippet too, so it's not necessarily down to body fat.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

Clothes, generally...
Seriously, though- my uniform. Commute's only 2.5 miles each way, so kit's a bit excessive.Dahon Speed Pro TT; Trek Portland

'Twas a bit cooler today, so I was wearing 3/4 length bibs, L/S base layer ( http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/dhb_E ... 360036248/ )and gilet, which was pretty good in the (slight) wet. It was muggy though, so I'm not sure anything would have been perfectly comfortable. I think the only real answer is to wear some MTFU.The above is a post in a forum on the Intertubes, and should be taken with the appropriate amount of seriousness.0 -
I almost always wear just a pair of shorts and a t-shirt (short sleeve if its any way warm) or long sleeve if its a bit chilly out. By the time I'm a few minutes in, I'm warmed up nicely. This changes though if its freezing or wet. I haven't worn trousers/leggings since about April.Orange G3 2011

padded shorts, baggies, casual jersey.
Shoes, socks, helmet gloves.
I'd wear my sandals too, but the cleats are a bit knackered and don't play well with the bit knackered pedals.0 -

At 5 am on the way home from night shift i am in summer gear, SS jersey + shorts.
The windproof is in the panniers in case i need it.
The only concession is that i still wear a thin pair of full gloves as it can be quite nippy at that time.FCN 3/5/90 -
I've been in the "what the hell do I wear THIS time?" quandry all week this week.
Generally I wear bib-shorts, short sleeve MTB top (loose fitting.. hide the flab (ish) ) sports socks (those ones that don't show over the shoe) mtb spd shoes, spez fingerless padded gloves. I have been supplementing this with the shower proof top when needed, but that thing is really boil in the bag. Frankly I may as well not wear it when it's raining as I'm soaking by the time I get home anyway!
(so I've ordered a DHB breathable water-proof jacket)Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

Well I bought some new (non cycling) shorts from Marks and Sparks yesterday. They were sort of beige. I cycled home in them and on arriving home my daughter said "Dad, have you wee'd yourself?" (I hadn't by the way)
I think I need new shorts again0 -

+1 for the sandals. Got a pair of shimano spd jobbies, and they are a summer essential. Otherwise it's my shutt sportswool top and whatever padded shorts are clean.0 -
Sleeveless lycra top, bib shorts, "trainer socks", fingerless mitts and shoes. Too warm for anything else, and you've got to make the most of the sunny weather to top up that tan...
Edit: Pretty much what I'm wearing there <

this morning started out dry but coolish, long sleeve compression top under a normal s/s jersey, shorts and then baggies, normal cycling socks started to rain lightly half way in.
I could have stopped to put on rain jacket but would have ended up wetter from getting to warm with it on than what rain it would have stopped.
I like to set off a bit cold that way I don't overheat too much, alays do but it's to what degree I do.0 -
