Hi, i recently had a motorbike crash, when a petrol tanker ran a red light and hit me!!
Luckily i only suffered a broken clavicle but everything else was ruined.
I had been training for the British ironman in august but now sadly cannot participate, i have a turbo and know that my scar has sealed after the operation i was wondering if anyone had
1) had a similar case
2) had any tips for sessions on the turbo, stuff that wont stress upper body too much.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am sooo bored!

Anything you do on a turbo, will be of benfit.
Don't go too hard with your effort and you'll be able to isolate your upper body from the session...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Long walks help with boredom if not fitness! learn a language? just kidding - hope you're back on the road soon0

When you're on the turbo try raising the handlebars to keep some of the pressure off your arms/shoulders/clavicle.0

i broke my clavicle and scapula in a mountain biking crash - i couldn't sit on a bike at all - but i could use a bike in a gym - where i pedalled in a sitting down/recumbent position.
is your collar bone knitted yet (ie not grating)
can i also advise supporting your bad arm by holding it with your good hand at the elbow - and gently straightening the arm (i had one of those slings with a belt attached) and the tendons in my elbow joint shortened so i lost a bit of range of motion - which took a while to come back. basically any range of motions which you can do gently without undue pain are a good idea.0 -

I didn't get hit by a tanker, I came off my bike. Also had a broken clavicle. I do long distance rides, not races
This was feb 2008. I was doing 400km rides again by the end of May, but I wasn't back on top form again until the following year.
Here are some thoughts on my training regime on the turbo with a busted up shoulder
