OK - due to unplanned circumstances, I have have moved on from my Trek and got myself a brand-spanking-new Cervelo S3. Got too good a deal on it to pass up (just the frame).

Let me say - it's a joy to ride. Rear seatstays suck up lots of road vibration and the giant chainstays transfer power efficiently to the road. First race on it is a World Cup race this Friday!

lovely bike...but why the aero water bottle? personal preference or a real reason? like the blue bolts on the crankset, great touch!

Well - it IS an aero frame! Makes sense to put an aero bottle on it. :)

I prefer the aero bottle because my legs often hit regular bottles and knock them off!

    That's very nice.

The water bottle looks a bit like an old bleach bottle though...

Serious question - why do your Keo2max pedals sit horizontal? Are they new and stiff and arranged for the photo?

A friend of mine has some (in black) and after a good few hundred km they're still quite stiff and not hanging toe-up.

I put them that way for the photo - but to be honest it's a flaw with the pedals. They are stiff and don't flop around like other Look pedals. It can be dicey clipping into them at times.

I think they fixed this problem in a later production run. Obviously I got a set of the 'flawed' ones. Maybe I should write to Look and complain.....

Very nice Colin... You are a total tart!
Why blue tape on only one side of the bars?
Do you tape your bars from the centre out!?
Your Zipp decals are slightly different to mine, I think (mine have a touch of red on them)...
I'm loving the bike, and so very jealous, mate.
I hope it serves you well on Friday.

Would you believe the forecast for Spain is torrential rain the entire time I'm there!?? :x

I tape my bars from the centre out - yes. But - get this... I took the bike back to the shop where I bought the frame today to get it weighed. Had to make sure it's above the legal limit.

Bike was in the front of the shop while I was looking around. And that's when the tape mysteriously disappeared from one side! I think one of the staff was taking the p!ss.

My Zipp decals are the standard ones. You might have the 'older' ones. I had them on the last set I bought from our mutual friend.

And thanks for the wishes for Friday (and Sunday - TT).

Pokerface - What brand are those chainring bolts? Any problems with them coming loose?

    Bolts are KCNC bought here:

No problems keeping them tight and available in many colours. KCNC make quality bling.

Ahhh, does that explain the shift to an aero frame... Besides the unmissable deal offered?

Can only take one bike - so an aero frame was important! But my Trek was falling apart and I couldn't get the seat mast off which made it kinda hard to get it into a shipping box to travel with. I was going to buy an S2 - but the S3 was offered at a serious discount so had to take it.

Not gutted at all! There's many a better bike than mine on here, it's as good as I could get for what I could afford.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it in Spain Colin!

    Love that bike!
I went from a madone 5.5 with dura ace to the cervelo s1 (all i could afford) Its a budger version of yours, sram force, planet x brakes and 50mm carbon pro wheels..

I'm getting the chainring bolts and Q rings today.
How do you find the Qrings? Why the aero ones? i prefer the look of them but are they any better than the standard ones?

Looks v cool - blue speed-plays would hum nicely with your Rotor's fixings - how do you find them compared to traditional rings by the way? - Sudor

Love the chainrings. Really help with the hills. Have spoken with several other owners of them and they all agree they are tops.

I just prefer the look of the TT chainrings over the standard ones. Plus everyone then knows you have them!

My pedals are fukced. They don't spin at all. There is a fix for it though - involves replacing some seals if it bothers you that much.

    These seals need replacing too.
