What an awful day! Cold, wet and windy.
My preparation took a knock due to work and family commitments...my son has a broken collarbone so is off nursery so we have had a tough few weeks.
I was going well to the first feed at Keld, 2 big climbs in the bag...then hit 78kph on the descent to Kirby Stephen..thinking on for a good time here. Then hit the massive headwind about the sametime i hit a bad spell...the 15 miles to Hawes took forever...headdown on the drops, on my own so no one to share the work with. Got to Hawes demorilised and thoughts of the 100 out the window..opted for the 80..so only 27 miles back from Hawes...again in to the wind.
Regrouped with my mates...3 of us doing through and off to Leyburn and thinking could recover for a good time here..then cramped and had to let them go and ease off.
Finished in 5hrs 56 mins...68 out of 159..at several times i was considering selling my bikes it was that unpleasant but really happy with the time. For a hilly 80 its the quickest i have done!
Its a cracking event, really well organised, and great route...will be back next year for the 100!!
Thanks to all involved.

There seems to be a few reports from riders on this site:
http://www.mtbe.co.uk/congratulations-t ... t7923.html
Who did various lengths on this Event. All seem to echo the sentiment that a great day was had by all, and that the Event organisation was superb.
Also a good write up of this riders day who completed the 100.
