currently Vino and Evans are combining whats left of their teams, there having a team meet in the bus and shooting up everything theyve got left.

Cunningly planning the point where the two of them will catapult out of the front and ride away to gain back the advantage.
Meanwhile Paul Weller is ponsing about and believing his own hype, (perhaps a delsuionary side effect?) and twittering about fights going down in slough.

On the other side of the world meanwhile................ all is tranquillo

Lots of moves to go clear but everyone is chasing hard so they can try their luck. The elastic should snap soon.

Here we go: a group of 17 men finally got away at km 62. The names are: Wyss, Bertogliati, Grivko, Claude, Kriit, Belletti, Mayoz, Meyer, Marzano, Lang, Facci, Stamsnijder, H. Henderson, Lewis, Horrach, Klimov and Voss.

They have a lead of 3'30" now.

decent enough group could be guys up there for the GC lads to bridge to..

    Is anyone wearing boxing gloves?

Shame Millar's out, he's been riding hard though. I was looking forward to a futile break with 10km to go which would see him caught 3 metres from the line...

Apparently the Katusha guys have all been issued with Kalashnikovs for protection...

9 minutes the lead of the front guys, I don't think that is coming back together

I am watching the italian coverage, so far I have learnt 3 words, Maggio, testa and Cadelevansa, although I don't know what that last word means :)

Good chance for Henderson (Sky) to pick up a stage win today if he makes it to the finish with the break. I think he's got the best sprint of the bunch.

couple of lumps for him... think he may get dropped fairly early considering everyone has him as he dangerman...

But no-one on a Pinarello can stay upright can they? Has anyone from SKY not fallen off yet?
It has to be the most crashed bike on the circuit!

Probably due to those uneven chainstays - it's obviously too heavy on one side of the bike. Makes for poor handling. 8)

Looks like a winning break. Have had a punt on Grivko from that group.

Karpets doing... something. Trying to bridge a 9 minute gap. Go Vlad.

Gerdemann, too. Liquigas pulling. Is it about to go "boom" again?

Looks like Karpets is going to get hoovered up by the peloton...

5'07" for Karpets, 6'14" for the peloton. Liquigas have everything in hand, although why they're on the front, I do not know.

How close do you think Karpets will get? I say no closer than 4 min.

Karpets is such a carthorse of a rider...

will the katusha lads up front drop back?

So Liquigas finally asked themselves "why in the hell are we chasing" and now Karpets has nearly 3 minutes. This is a very strange race.

It's a race without clear leading team. Saxo is defending pink, but Porte is clearly not main favourite for the overall. So, who is? Cervelo? Liquigas? Astana? BMC? Karpets is only a minute behind Basso in the GC....

Exactly. Liquigas were setting the tempo when Karpets went and kept him at 1 minute for while. But then it's as if they thought "hang on, this isn't our job..."

And now Karpets has clawed back some crucial time, on a flat transitional stage.
