Not at all relevant but according to In Our Time on R4 this morning, Schiehallion was used in 17th/18th century attempts to calculate the weight of the Earth :D

I'm sure it was a bit more technical than that but I've been in meetings for the last 7 hours so what's left of my brain has gone to mush.

Charles Mason - attempt to calculate the mass of the Earth by the amount a pendulum was deflected by the calculated mass of Schiehallion. I remember in my days at uni we went to Schiehallion - classic site of metamorphics - fantastic garnet crystals - geek over

The Etape has a couple of thousand metres of ascent. Trossachs Ton has over 4000....

...and it's not even in the Highlands.

    Cheers,
    W.

Because the original deal was only for 5 years and although I can't see them stopping it you never know, particularly when ARCE (or is that ACRE) get going

    Yeah

Excellent stuff!! You will love it. Just need to get the miles in your legs, build up to it, then enjoy the day. It will leave you gasping for more.....

Good on you - also remember to get sponsored, that will also spur you on to good things.

It's more like I need to get the miles in my butt

My legs always feel fine, it's my bottom that hurts after longer distance rides :?

I hate to say this but even someone like Lance Armstrong says the same
