Giro d'Italia - stage 1 - Amsterdam - *SPOILER*

The 2010 Giro d'Italia has begun. I'm really excited about this, and gutted not to be there, as the start of stage 1 TT is less than 100m from where I've lived for more than 10 years.
It's 8.4 km, so just 400 meters more than the max limit of a 'prologue'. But it's a prologue, really. The route: http://www.giromania.nl/Images/content/ ... 10_DEF.pdf

It is completely flat and mostly long straights, with a couple of sharp corners. Some stretches with brick-paved streets in stead of tarmac, but nothing too uncomfortable. The route crosses tram lines a couple of times, but those should be filled up. Some stretches are pretty narrow, but straight, and shouldn't make a difference.
The start should be spectacular, in an 'island' on what normally is a mini-lake on Museumplein, just in front of Rijksmuseum.

It looks like it'll be dry most of the afternoon - http://www.buienradar.nl/mijnbuienradar ... m&size=1x1 - so should be fast

Fastest time at the moment for Grivko, Tondo second, Farrar 5th.
Rabon very disappointing, not even top 10

When do the live feeds start? I'm having no joy with any of those at steephill at the moment.

http://videochat.gazzetta.it/index_giro.shtml has images from the finish, nothing else - I assume the actual broadcast hasn't started yet.
Local Amsterdam TV station AT5 broadcasts a live 'prologue show' online from 3pm (2pm UK time) - http://www.at5.nl/ - but I'm not sure whether that includes actual live race images

Rai Sport have been live, on and off, since this morning. They cut from poor Damiano, when he was 200 metres from the finish.

"Dark Horse" Pozzovivvo has already been on the deck.

Why does AG2R not have Nocentini back in the line up? Is he still recovering or not fully trained up from his early season crash?

Good stuff by Larsson. If only his and Fab's TT skills rubbed off onto other members of the team.

Just saw a replay of McEwen's mechanical problem on the first corner. Ouch.

    Bookwalter beats Larsson

He has ZERO form in a TT and minor form in anything else. Must be a crazy pep talk from Cadel......

Edit: former US U23 time trial champ and winner of Tour of Utah prologue. Thankfully

After the Fleche Wallone littering scandal, Nibali can expect an angry response from PETA.

Henderson goes second. Looks like Sky have woken up from their Spring slumber. Shame Eurosport are still a bit off the pace.
