Ahhhh, just read cycling weekly and now they are doing my gilet which cost £39 for £29.25. When will I learn to wait and not buy stuff as soon as it comes out.... The gilet is another great thing, packs up small enough for a rear pocket yet thick enough in the right places to keep warm. Really recommend this if you are after a gilet. Fingers crossed my Team Jersey won't be in CW next week.

Nothing comes to he who waits TiBoy! Besides I bet you've had more that £10 worth of use out of the one you bought back in winter with the weather we've been having...

It is a top bit of kit, I thought at £39 it was a bargain, £29 does not even buy a good tyre these days let alone a good piece of cycle clothing.

I said I would review this once I'd worn this, so here we go.

First on the sizing - I ordered small as I would in a normal T-Shirt, but it came up a bit tight on me - to be honest I think this is true of cycling gear in general, it seems to be a size smaller than real clothes. I would say the Shutt small is a little tighter than a Rapha small, but there's not a lot in it.

The Shutt guys though were very helpful, Simon in particular had already contacted me to warn of a slight delay (nothing really) and on returning it with a note the medium was quickly sent out. This fits me perfectly, I'm about 5'7"-5'8", 10 stone, 30 inch waist and generally buy a 36 inch suit jacket (not sure of the exact chest measurement though).

    ********
After writing this I've just gone and checked their size guide, 36 inches = 91.4cm = medium! Apologies guys I should have checked first
    ********

The top itself is really nice - a good cut, long at the back with a nice grip on the inside, and 3 pockets on the outside. The middle one is securely closed with velcro. Most importantly, the sportwool fabric feels lovely, as you would expect as it it also used by Rapha (not sure if it is identical though). One thing to note, the zip does come up quite high, I might prefer it if the collar was a little lower.

I've worn it now for a few commutes in hot weather, and despite sweating buckets it's remained completely smell free, just like pure Merino. It's really too nice for general commuting, I would normally just wear an Endura base layer, but it can certainly cope with it.

So overall a good 9 out of 10 from me, especially at that price! I will certainly be getting more stuff from them.

Whilst that is a good deal, it's not sportwool. It's made by a company called Smartwool.
