Ive been doing some research as ive not been able to get out so far this weekend and it looks like DMF failures are a common thing on diesels, ive been reading that alot of owners have issues with them and they need replacing alot.
A few examples ive read where they have failed twice within 2 years and the guys had to pay out £700 a go to have them replaced. Asking a few mates that have diesels and they have also had issues with DMF's failing.
Anyone not had issues with these?#
Also, the 320d seems to have a common turbo failure issue which was supposed to be fixed on the 2007 facelift, again anyone any experience of this?Cycling never gets any easier, you just go faster - Greg LeMond0 -

LOL girlfriend has one, needs a new clutch, spark plug broke in cyclinder head and had to be drilled out, runs like sh*t and isnt built well... but she liked the colour and the leather seats!!!!Cycling never gets any easier, you just go faster - Greg LeMond0 -
Just to keep ya updated ive now driven the Golf GT TDI 170 with the 18" alloys, and I tell ya what its got some grunt. 1st gear there isnt anything to write home about, but when the turbo comes in from 2nd onwards it pushes you back in your seat, lovely
I was luckily enough to drive it on my normal drive to work, in my current car I can get 30mpg on a good day, in that I did 45mpg and I was driving it quicker than I normally dirve, so happy on the front too
I like the look of the car, it felt comfortable straight away, like I could just get in it and drive it without too much thought about it being a different car, enough space and I can get a good one for my budget.
And last weekend I went to test drive a 320d M Sport, sadly when I got there it was the 318d M Sport, even though its got the same 2.0l engine its only got 143bhp compared to the 177bhp I was execting.
Still, its lovely to look at, I really like the look of the M Sport BMW's, it felt comfortable, you sort of sit in it rather than on it like my car, if you know what I mean, the dash wasnt too flashy but everything had a quality feel about it and I liked the layout.
So, driving it, I cant say I noticed the run flats on the 10mile route I took it round, it felt composed and handled well, good turn in but the engine was gutless compared to the Golf's.
One that that took a bit of getting used to was the smaller steering wheel and the window angle is lower in the BMW than mine, but I felt it ok by the end of the test drive.
I would like to try the 320d M Sport, and im hoping to give one a good seeing to this weekend to see if the extra power making it a better experience.
I also want to try the Audi A4 2.0 TDI 170 S-Line, I know engine wise its quick enough as its the same VAG unit in the Golf, just want to get a feel for driving the car.
The Lexus is off my list, it just doesnt have the build quality of the others, doesnt look that good inside either. And so is the Leon FR, a nice enough looking car but I dont like the dash after sitting in one, and I know I will have the same things as I currently have - its basically a Golf - LOLCycling never gets any easier, you just go faster - Greg LeMond0 -

when Seat prouced the "Autoemotion" strapline, they ripped it off Alfa. You need to have owned one to understand.
I had a black limited edition Sud Green Cloverleaf - fantastic handling car and would wipe the floor with an XR3 the boy racer of the day...
So i now look longingly at the Brera, and trying to persuade Mrs B to let me buy her onehttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=3370a&r=3&c=5&u=M&g=p&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png

Strange, its there for me! A4 S-line Avant anyway0 -
I can see it now, not sure why I could yesterday?
Very nice though, is it a petrol or diesel.
I took a 320d M Sport out for a drive today, managed to blag a drive at a local BMW dealer, and its felt much better than the 318d M Sport, more torque and quicker 0 - 60, but then it does have more power. Also with the seat adjusted properly I was more relaxed on the test drive.
Now I just need to find a A4 S-Line TDI 170 for a drive and then make a choiceCycling never gets any easier, you just go faster - Greg LeMond0 -

I had a brand spanking new Ibis White A4 Avant 2.0 TDI 170 S-Line delivered last week.
It's absolutely lovely. I can't tell you about the driving experience or fuel economy as I have spend all the time so far cleaning, polishing and generally keeping it white!0 -
According to clarkson
Audi, the cars all the "coks" who used to drive bmw are now driving.
Very true. Most Audi drivers, drive like they own the road.3 grand bike...30 Bob legs....Slowing with style0 -
Funny that it's still largely women that have the problem with the Skoda badge. I've had the usual comments from blokes and it transpires they don't actually know much about cars.
Maybe that's the reason that most of the negative comments you see on discussion forums come from 'the Mrs' - it's either because the bloke can't face up to it that he's too insecure to buy a Skoda (and he's using the Mrs as the excuse) or it's his Mrs that wears the trousers and she happens to know FA square about cars0 -
audis look rather plain an uninspiring to me. im sure its a very nice car though. what big named car in that price range isnt nice. its got to be better than a seat or skoda.0
