Sore back when sleeping

Hi
Ive been getting a sore back at 4am most nights for the last 6 weeks. I end up getting up and having a cup of tea, then going back to bed and try to sleep sitting up to relieve the pain.
My back is not sore at any other time during the day. I have tried a few beds and pillows, so dont think its that.
Anybody have any ideas?

what part of your back is sore?
I used to have back pain at the base of my spine particularly if I lay to long, I began popping a rolled up towel under my back and that helped in conjunction with some stretching exercises0 -
I feels like the spine about half way up my back.
I was going to try yoga and a massage to see if that helps. Just find it weird its around 4am most nights0 -
I visited the doctor several times and all he done was poke and prod a bit and prescribed me some anti inflamatories, but I'm lucky enough to have a physio where I work and she determined I had a disc problem she massaged and manipulated my back, gave me ulrasound treatment over a period of a couple of months and gave me stretching exercises to do which pretty much cleared up the issue still get occasionall recurrences but nowhere near as bad0

Go to bed an hour earlier or later. And see if it still hits you at 4:00AM.0

Well been to see the doc and I have to get a back xray. :shock:0

Have you tried asking on a bed forum...?? Bedradar or something....0

Typical Doctor & a complete waste of your time.
An X-Ray on your back will show you nothing.
I have had 2 discs removed from the bottom of my spine, nothing showed on the X-ray.
You must get an MRI scan to see any probs.
In the meantime have thought of Pilates? I go twice a week and it's brilliant for the back.
Also sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees. This keeps your spine in alignment.0 -

Stellite, a little over 12 months ago I injured my back. Over the next few months I visited a Doctor, Chiropractor, 2 x Osteopath, 3 x Physiotherapist. The only one that has been any real help was the latest physiotherapist. BUT the thing helped me return to sleeping through the night was to sleep on one side with a pillow between my knees, worked a treat. And that suggestion was on a bike forum (not this one though)Klein Quantum, Cervelo Soloist Team, Boardman SLR 9.0S, Boardman SLS 9.8, Kinesis Racelight 4S, DengFu FM0280 -
I had this a few weeks ago, similar to a stiff neck but lower down. Lasted about a week and was uncomfortable sleeping but it went away.0
