Hi guys
If you were going to ride 150 miles per daye for 10days back to back. what would your rough training schedule be?
Theres 6 of us planning on riding 1500miles over 10 day and we are in dispute of what training to do.
Cheers inadvance for your input
p.s we are of a good fitness level and a couple of us regulary ride 60-100 miles a time along with some 100 mile sportives.

How long do you have to train? What's the terrain like? Supported or unsupported?
One part of your training should obviously be getting comfortable cycling 150 miles in a day. You'll need to have your bike set-up spot-on. Once you can do back-to-back-to-back 150 mile days then you're probably good to goMore problems but still living....0 -
We have 5 months till kick off.
bikes should all be dialled in now! i think 8) but i may personaly get a bike fit done payday to see whatthey say!0 -

I would say that the conventional wisdom for something like that would be Long
Slow Distance(LSD) rides, and often. That's a lot of miles without a break in the action.
That's really all I have ot offer. Ride as much as you can and, possibly even more important, REST harder than you train. IMHO I don't see much reason to do intervals or that sort of stuff.0 -
I think I actually agree with Dennis
I'm guessing its not a race and that there's no time limit each day so you just want to work on your ability to cycle for 10-12 hours /day over multiple days.
I did something kind of similar last year - 300km /day for 5 days doing LEJOG. My training involved a daily hilly 2 hour round trip commute and long hilly rides in the Peak District at the weekends. I was doing long rides most weekends from March onwards, building up to 300km by the end of May and I did back-to-back long rides a few weeks before my LEJOG at the end of July.
I think your biggest problem assuming you can all spare most weekends for long rides from now until you do it is going to be bike comfort. What's comfortable for a single day ride of 100 miles might not work for 10 days in a row of 150 mile rides. You won't really know until you've done a few long rides.
Its going to be quite some challenge for the guys not used to cycling 60-100 miles regularly, but I guess that's the idea.More problems but still living....0 -
a couple of us are pretty fit and regul;ary do long rides as much as poss while a couple of the others are doing more short distance stuff.0

Me and two mates are planning on possibly doing JOGLE in 5 days next year. We're all pretty fit but was wondering just how hard a challenge we've set ourselves. Definitely difficult, but at least it might seem possible!0 -

you should be ok (ish) as you will be going at their pace & therefore saving some energy!
But follow the advice and spend as much time as poss riding. If you also run I would taper that off to save those knee's!
Also a great chance to get some new kit!0 -
In my opinion thats a serious undertaking 150 miles in a day fine for ten days in a row
relentless!! you ve got 5 months think you need to do a few 100 miles for 4/5 days
in a row see how you feel. im no expert but i think slow and steady would win this
race, better doing it over 12 hours and being able to do it next day than gunning for it
and breaking yourself :shock:0 -
Could be as much a test of your ability to sit on a saddle for 8-10 hours a day as it is to actually pedal that much. Not to mention having bibs and pads that will stand up to it.0

Cheers for the info guys, its echos my theory of more long likewise rides rather than lots of short split rides...0

Just for the record, if I did 10x 150m in a row I would unquestionably be having to tell my relatives to think seriously about funeral arrangements for me. I have a list of songs that I want playing which would make it a bit easier for them.0
