Cambridge to Casablanca

In July I will be cycling to Casablanca in Morocco for charity, with 5 mates . I am very new to cycling, and while i am reasonably fit from playing a fair amount of rugby I was wondering how best to train for this trip. Obviously the simple answer is to just get out and ride lots, but does anyone have any suggestions about a simple training plan or mileage a day/week? On the trip we hope to do around 80-100 miles a day for the four weeks we have to do it.
Also any other tips you have for a trip such as this would be extremely appreciated.
Many thanks

This may sound a bit odd, but you won't really have to be hugely fit for a trip like this. Rolling along at 10mph for hours at a time isn't particularly taxing on most terrain.

What you definitely do need to look at is being comfortable on the bike. You're going to be in the saddle for a long time every day, you need to make sure you're not going to have any problems. Therefore, you need to do training rides that last for a long time rather than going fast.

Check your gear, get your backside & head used to cycling long hours in all kinds of weather. Make sure you dont take too much stuff with you. Do a few practice trips beforehand - long weekends with gear loaded on bike. Work out what kind of 'real' food keeps your energy levels up - some drink juice others eat bread - but too much juice gives me the runs....and above all else ENJOY!!
