Flying to Majorca tomorrow for a weeks cycling, I hope :?
We will see how the airports handle the backlog when the dust settles
Just leaving...................None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
From the news I just saw all the ash falling "oop norf" may have adverse effects on people suffering from asthma and the like. :!: Time for a polution mask while riding till it goes away? The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle. ...Stapp’s Ironical Paradox Law

Beautifull blue skies here in the N/West...not a vapour trail in sight ..wonderfull0
-
No vapour trails or clouds of ash here, but pretty much all fights in and out of Liverpool Airport are showing as cancelled. I feel sorry for any people intending to travel.Cycling weakly0

Sunny here in Lancashire, the only trail I will be seeing will be under my wheels tonight

I think they kicked ours didn't they?
"The dispute ended in 1976 after Iceland threatened to close a major NATO base in retaliation for Britain's deployment of naval vessels within the disputed 200 nautical mile (370 km) limit. The British government conceded, and agreed that after December 1 1976 British vessels would not fish within the previously disputed area.[2]"0 -

Team Raleigh are now affected as they have just been interviewed by sky at Manchester airport as their flight is grounded.
Nice bit of free advertising for them as they came across really well.Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

I suppose it'll be a kick in the teeth for those saying the world is warming up to fast if it helps re freeze the polar ice caps for a short whileBianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

Yes, the Icelanders won. Which turned out to be a good thing - we would otherwise have fished all the cod to extinction in short order.0 -
Cool, will we proper notice it in the sky? Will it rain ash all over here? Especially in Manchester. I guess I'll be out on my bike when it passes. Or has it already passed?0

Apparently Heathrow is shut. So volcanic ash at 25,000 feet has the same effect as snow. How come no one is complaining about the Government being unprepared?0 -
Well It'll be interesting if it drops a layer of ash over here, I know it'll be bad but still, I'm not bothered, I'm going to the hospital anyway
I best get some spiked tyres for winter though, or maybe even summer.
So no flights for 6 hours! And the last eruption lasted 18 months!0 -

I blame New Labour and Brown/ Madelson.
this problem has never happened under a Tory government.
Now if we had a BNP government, they wouldn't have allowed the foreign ash into our airspace and would have repatriated any ash already hereWant to know the Spen666 behind the posts?

I've been offshore for over two weeks, due home tomorrow...
So much planned to do with the little boy this weekend... Proper gutted!Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Is volcanic ash good for gritting with?
If it is why hasn't Gordon Brown got people up there in hot air balloons with big nets to catch it all. So we can stock pile it ready for the cold weather and snow that the after affects of the volcano will bring this winter.Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

That numpty Rachel Burden (sp?) on radio 5 this morning accused the spokesman from the air traffic control authority of not giving passengers enough notice and causing the chaos of the cancelled flights....they advised the airlines and airports at 1:30 this morning. Wtf is wrong with this country where suddenly everyone expects to have their ar**s wiped for them!0 -

I don't know why they went to war over cod. I prefer a nice bit of Haddock myself.
