The ever progressing march of travel.
Lyrics to 180? You bet. SIDS with a 15mm QR and 120mm? Of course. Everything just moves on and up, then they will have to introduce another race XC fork ;-)0 -
considering my next bike will probably have fox forks and shocks, i for one am reallly likin the look of the 2011 stuff the decals look the dog danglies, and no doubt performance will incredible 8) obviously not cheap, but hey ho, you pay for what you get0
-
Nah, you generally pay too much for fox ;-)0

they are very expensive, but only compared to rockshox imo, DT and now BOS are the super expensive forks0 -

im likin the look of the geo tbh, 66.5 degree head angle, straight up 75 degree seat angle, looks good, shame it isnt nearer 28lbs really0
-
I thought 2350g were super light for a 180mm fork.
Untill, I saw the Lyrik Solo Air which is 2187g for a 170mm fork. :shock:0 -
The Lyrik Solo Air is potentially my next fork, m just waiting to see what next year brings before I press the button.

The new fork looks ace. Hands up anyone who'll trust the new coating before it's had at least a couple of years of real world testing and feedback in the hands of owners? Nobody? Hmm.Uncompromising extremist0

RS - Audi/VAG
Fox - BMW0 -
.... yep Fox are overpriced with no out and out performance advantages0

Nah I think it goes further than mere poor packaging and expensive badges.
Someone above mentioned about the ever increasing march of travel. I think the 180 36's are just meant to be a cometitor to Totems I.E. 7" 'Freeride' forks rather than the new standard. They still make/sell 160's like they always have done.0 -
very nice looking forks, no doubt they will perform flawlessly and servicing will be second to none in the uk with mojo.
however.
they are gonna be so pricey it will make your head spin!! i think my aftermarket fork choice will remain rock-shox.0 -

Rockshox are mostly overpriced, handle averagely but marketed as something special when they are just expensive RSTs...
Fox are made to "handle" from the outset but do attract the irritating label snob just like any quality brand0 -

im not certain thats true there matt. might have been once upon a time, but not now.0 -
Lol Matt defninately not that and i run fox.
Rock shox used to be that back in the 90's. I think all forks are much of a muchness. Fox are pricy as after market but do come on alot of bikes. main reason i love Fox is the service center is ten from my house..0 -
I was colouring the truth a little just to be feisty...0

cant see the comparison tho its that curve on the downtube to the bb, imo just looks weird something i could never get used to but it probably serves a purpose for the geometry setup of the rear sus.
oh love the dark goldy stanchions on the fox forks0 -
just read on the place that shall not be named that the grapics on the OE forks will be toned down compared the OEM forks looks like im gonna have to a decal kit then0

Yup, that's one of the reasons I'm suspicious... DH use is completely unlike trail use. You can't test a product in a high-impact low-duration situation then assume it'll work perfectly in a lower impact long duration situation.
(Honda did just this with their VF, they torture tested the engines on racetracks and on the bench and said "OK, after 5000 miles of hell they're perfect, good enough for road use" then it turned out that after 10000 miles of mild use the cams melted and destroyed the top ends)Uncompromising extremist0
