This bike was an accidental build. I bought some Ultegra Sl brake calipers for my Giant, but alas, I needed long reach, and they were short reach. I was going to send them back, but instead, I decided that I would build them onto a Planet X. And I really liked the pink frame, it is a very "masculine" colour!

  • The only thing I am regretting is putting white tyres on!! They are already turning to a muddy cream colour and it has only done 60 miles!! :(

Having some spare brake calipers is the best excuse I've heard to build a new bike!

I was a little apprehsive to begin with, but now, I absolutely love it! I am enjoying getting the judging looks from the car drivers going past! :)

Thanks! I'm sure that they would look lovely, but at the moment, my bank balance is £0.56. I won't be buying anything for a while I think! :P

Looks mint. Just make sure you don't wear anything red with it though, it'll clash

What a ridiculous comment, I'm assuming you are trolling. Its not like Trek are seen as the pinnacle of boutique frame builders (though they make some good products, just like PX).

You did it! Best colour there is on the PX SL IMO, definately stands out. Mine always gets enquiring looks and glances.

These bikes and paintjobs are epic... If I could, I absolutely would!
Not to everyones taste, but then again not everyone has the lariness (?!) to pull it off.
Just make sure you go fast, otherwise you run the risk of looking slightly daft! But still, fantastic bike and one of the best excuses for starting a new build I've ever heard, and I've heard a few!

How long is it before the missus claims it as her own though?

Finally saw one of these (though with Campag) in the flesh at the Duncton Sportive on Sunday. Seriously bright, but seriously cool too. I'm very jealous!

I'm gonna go for one of those when I finally get a decent roadie. Pink shifter hoods would look better IHMO but the rest is sweet.

Wouldn't use anything else! Tried Pro3's, cont GP4000's these are better in almost every way. No quite as long lasting as i'd like but i do a fair bit of milage on them. Great race tyre for sure...............go get some!
