I thought that was obvious, it runs green, white and red. I have looked at quite a few Italian jersey and they ALL run the same.

Ah, ok, just wasn't seeing how there was a wrong way and a right way to represent a vertically striped flag in a horizontal fashion. Now I know! :D

Did anyone think that perhaps they designed it according to how the jersey is going to be used and viewed ?

It's a cycling jersey, therefore it's not unreasonable to assume that it's going to be viewed from the side, when the owner is on a bike. In which case, when you have your hands on the bars and are being viewed from the side, it's going to be correct, as the colours are G,W,R vertically from left to right.

Sounds like another excuse to snipe at Rapha, to me...........

No, they just got it wrong, the Italian and French are one way up and the Belgian the other, so which way is correct?

Flag colours are always displayed the other way on the sleeves of other jerseys, check about. And as Flasher said, they have either screwed up with France & Italy & got Belgium right, or in your scenario, vice versa.

I'd say the OP isn't looking to snipe at Rapha at all, or indeed most of the people who replied. I'd imagine most are like myself, who like the Rapha stuff, but if you are paying the premium price for it, then this sort of mistake shouldn't really happen.

moving back to the gt gloves. arrived the other day and they are the dogs. lovely material, extremely well made and they fit like a....well like a glove

having said that all the above needs to be a given seeing how much they cost!! the true test will be longevity as if they last they will be worth every penny as I've paid good money for other mitts that have lasted a season before they are knockered...ie velcro fastenings don't stay closed, lycra gets worn etc.

I still wear a pair of Trek gel mitts that I bought back in the mid 90s - I think they cost less than a tenner and they are still going strong. Perhaps if you are able to hand down the Rapha gloves to your grandchildren, they might get close to offering the same sort of value... ;)

Fair point, I hadn't noticed the Belgian one. Either way, technically all of the flags are incorrect as the stripes are supposed to be vertical, which makes the whole discussion about which is correct and which is not, null and void.

As for the "Sounds like another excuse to snipe at Rapha, to me" comment; my apologies, it's just that I'm used to seeing people moaning about Rapha kit, so I assumed it was another in kind. :?

I think it is a condition of the Rapha warranty that they can only be washed in French mountain spring water, with an Edith Piaf CD playing in the background.... ;)

Washed mine in plain soap for the past year with no additional treatment and they are just fine
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

If anybody is looking for an alternative to the Rapha country jerseys, have a look at these.

Not seen them mentioned on here before.

Sadly, they are not sportwool, but a good find. At least the flag is the correct way!

True, but i got one anyway, very nice it is too. Pockets don't seem to sag when loaded like on the Rapha jerseys either, has the ipod hole in pocket as well, which it doesn't say anything about in the description!
