Rapha Italian Jersey - is there a problem with the flag ?

Just looking at the Rapha Country Italian Jersey and it would appear the Italian flag is the wrong way round. Looks more like a hungarian flag? I always thought it was, green, white and red? Any thought.....

Yea, that's the reason i haven't bought one, would just annoy me. It's the same with the French one. They managed to get the Belgian one right though.0

Yes, it did bug me!0

he, he cougie...sold out in most 'normal' sizes already and you know what they say....the involuntary merchandise mistakes that result in a unique product are the ones that sell for the most on e-bay0

Ah,,,could it be a collectors item!0

Union Jack's the right way round.
The red one is suprisingly nice actually. I returned the light blue to get it.
The black one IS lush beyond of course. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

as we seem to have a few Rapha fans on here anyone got a pair of the grand tour gloves? I know they're ridiculously expensive but they do look the dogs...however I wondered how durable they are. i can just about live with the cost if they are gonna last a good few summers. I've got a pair of the pro team gloves which are unbelievably comfortable and was thinking of getting some pro team mitts....and then I saw the grand tour gloves :shock:0

I hadn't noticed - now I hope it won't bug me!!!!
It is a lovely garment though, it has been worn and washed several times already and still looks mint.0 -

I splashed out on a pair last year.
The jury is still out as one year is not long enough to justify the cost.
Although they clean up okay I cannot get them back to brilliant white but they are still white and if I ever get a tan (instead of Scottish blue) I am sure they will look great again.
Now the good news.
They are soft as new but after wearing and washing they mould into your hands shape and are supremely comfortable.
Although the padding is slim they still absorb road vibrations better than any previous gloves including Specialised and Assos.
Even better, I had a bad crash last summer where my right hand took the brunt of it (followed by my shoulder and a broken collar bone) and although slightly scuffed they are still very much intact and certainly not worn through. Some would say that the wear and tear adds to the character.
Main point; would I buy them again?
That depends. If they last 3 years and I am flush at the time then yes.
I wouldn't break the bank though, but then I don't want to get in debt for anything ever again.None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -
daviee thanks for the review...I'm torn as the gloves I got are great and I could get the same mitts for 50 quid less than the gt gloves, however the total leather look with the knuckle and back of hand holes will probably swing it!! will go for the black though as I can see me getting the white ones dirty pretty quick...although my bar tape is white0

Re Grand Tour gloves, I've got a black pair I bought in 2007 that are still going strong and looking smart. I wear them for the commute and weekend training rides and find them much better than any other mitts I've ever had. Like daviesee, I've come off my bike wearing them [though not half as seriously] and while I know there are scuff marks on the left palm, anyone else would be pushed to find them.
I got them on a special offer from the Rapha website for £65 so I'd say they've definitely been worth the money. In fact, apart from my actual bikes, they're probably my favourite piece of kit!0 -
Makes you think.....where is the quality control !!!!!!!!!0

It all in the detail Sir!0

sleazy...are you talking to yourself?
anyway thanks for the reviews, ordered some gt gloves and in true Rapha style arrived 2 days later. look and feel lovely and I'm sure they'll improve with use.0 -

It's hardly a "tiny motif" is it? For 100 quid these things should be spot on IMHO.

Maybe the flags are supposed to be the right way up when you put your arm in the air as you triumphantly cross the finish line. 8)
If not it`s a really dumb mistake.Smarter than the average bear.0 -

I was going to say something similar. All the flags are that way round.
Either so they look right to others when you are arms out on the bars, or arms in the air.
Seems strange for normal wear if you think about it.
No-one else appears to haveNone of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

The Belgium one isn't. Either the Belgium one is not how Rapha envisioned them to be with arms aloft or the France and Italy ones are wrong.0 -
If you look at the Rapha Italian jersey of 2009, you will see its the correct way!
As Mr Grace said in 'Are you being served' ...... its all in the detail Sir!0 -

Is the Rapha 2009 jersey the one with 3 horizontal stripes round the chest, or am I looking at the wrong jersey? Bit tricky trying to represent a vertically striped flag with a large circular horizontal band, I guess.0 -
bear with me on this...
on the US military combat uniforms the flag is the wrong way round on the sleeve..as in the stars element of the stars and stripes is in the top right corner instead of the top left.
The reason for this is..drum roll... traditionally flags are fixed on a flag pole with the flag running left to right away from the pole.
however, if the flag is advancing ( think leading forward NOT going backwards) the flag will billow behind you and the the flag will be in reverse.
The US choose to use this idea on their military stuff to signify that they are always at the front and never in retreat..
Do Rapha have the same idea?
I dont know, but never let a smart ars* allow something to get in the way of a good factoid0 -

It's odd. On that basis only the UK flag should be the wrong way round given that the other countries have spent their existence retreatingMy blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)
