  • Don't think so.. was a mistake on Merlin Cycles website. Adding the wheels didn't increase the cost, and it was dispatched this afternoon!

They have the groupset without wheels for £247 now.. wheels are an extra £70.

I now have 2 wheelsets so I'll have to decide which to sell and which to keep!

Needed something new to read and I was pretty impressed by Matthew Syed's summaries of the Olympics.

Also bought some 661 comp gloves to chuck in my glove box

As my Dakine gloves have finally worn out, I was in the market for some new ones.

In this frankly awful colourway these are only £7.99 from Evans.

I hope they arrive before I head up to Whinlatter on Wednesday.

A new Rockrider 9.1 to replace the new one that broke a bit.

Gotta love hyperstore warranties, 'what's that? Fork seal has popped out? Bring the bike back and we'll give you a new one'

    Mental.

    and, the massive purchase of...

    2x KMC 10 speed powerlinks.

blowing the bank for sure with that order!!

Also, cwnt, thanks muchly for reminding me of the blinding offer merlin have on easton, alas one cannot afford another pair of havoc carbon bars and haven stem for the 456 :( BUT!!!! acquisition of said above power links means the build can begin!! :D
  • can you re-use the KMC powerlinks?

IIRC you can't and when I asked in my LBS, they been using normal 9sp ones lol.

I know you can't re-use sram 10 speed links, had the LBS over at uni fit my chain guide ages ago and they didn't charge me for a new one, so presuming they re-used it?

just checked and it says on the packet :)

I don't think anyone's said that open cam qrs are a good idea.

just more of a comment on the brand.... not that expensive if they are poo..... shimano ones will reside in the bits box for recall if necessary

qr's are for the road bike so i wont be worrying about the wheel disappearing from the forks as much on that....

They are ok, but need tightening up more than you would imagine they need tightening. I thought mine were done too really tightly but then my back wheel came loose on the downhill to detent reservoir and made me crash into a fat special kid

I've ordered a pair of these

    76060.jpg

Figured I'd give them a go this Autumn/Winter, at that price they're not exactly cheap, but neither are they that expensive with 30% off will do me nicely, if I don't like them they'll be going onto the classifieds I imagine.

    zm_lge_CC-S0935.jpg

Also one of these for the roadbike, been using an inline one I borrowed off a mate and have found it gives me a marginally better position than my set back one, and it's noticeably after a few hours in the saddle. Consequently I fancied one of these.
