Polar to Garmin - Old Data?

Hi, been using Polar for years (S725X, CS400), so have lots of data within the training
centre (which is very good).

Was also using Garmin Edge 205, but only for navigation. Had to replace that, so gone for
the Edge 500.

Is there a way I can switch to fully using the Edge (distance, altitude etc), but combine
the data with my old Polar stuff?

thanks

Complete guess here but if you can export the data from the Polar software in a fairly standard format (i.e. not something gps or Manufacturer specific) like CSV (comma separated values) or Tab-delimited then import it into Excel (or your favourite open source spreadsheet provider) have a look at what columns you've got.

Export in the same way some data from the Garmin software and open in excel and have a look what columns Garmin uses. Basically you'll need to manipulate the data from Polar to match what Garmin is expecting, save it as CSV (removing any formatting), then you should theoretically be able to import into Garmin the exported and fiddled CSV from Polar.

When I upgraded from a CS600 to the Garmin 705 I just wrote off all of my Polar data. I've since discovered SportTracks (http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/) which allows you to download data from both types of device. It may be worth a look however as I just deleted all my Polar data before discovering that plugin, I don't know how effective it will be for your particular needs.

Golden Cheetah is a great program. Very much focused on power however it is getting more general all the time, now especially with the pre-release metrics builds and it least if you ever move to power all the data will already be there. It handles Polar and Garmin, as well as many other formats.
