I'm thinking a of trip there soon - has anyone been recently? Based on a mate's report from three weeks back is was still pretty muddy in large sections. Hopefully it's improving....

Actually it was not just the mud, apparently there were decent sized 'ponds' in parts where the trail should have been. Does not make life nice if you get it wrong through one of those....

I went last weekend at the Demo Day - the first section is still very muddy, but most of the other sections have dried up quite abit. Generally at this time of the year it starts to get better, so should be fine!

Update to the conditions at bedgebury.......Not too bad at the moment there was various sections that were a little bit boggy/few puddles but overall not tto bad, the last section of the singletrack we avoided on the 2nd lap cos the last climb was the worst section of the loop.

Was my first time there wasn't happy with the price of the car parking £8 per car! I know they have upkeep etc but doesn't encourage me to return in a hurry :( a shame really cos i quite enjoyed blasting round for a couple of hours but not to worry plenty of other places to ride :D:D

A mate of mine has found an entry point with free parking somewhere round the perimeter which re uses regularly now - just hop over the fence with your bike and go for it :) I can get the location from him if you want.

    Kev,

Here's the directions from my mate who's used it a few times directions assume you're coming down the A21 from London):-
"Take the Goudhurst left turn A262 at the roundabout before the new Lamberhurst by pass. About a mile or two after Goudhurst turn right B2085 to Hawkhurst and at the T junction at Hartley take a right A229. The right turning into Park Lane (approx 1/2 mile) can be easily missed!"

Looks like the parking area is a smallish unmarked area right next to the road. I can email you the Google streetview shots if you want.

    Cheers,
    Steve.

[Edited for better directions now I've driven it]

No worries Kev, I reckon it'll be quite busy this w/e if the weather holds.

EDIT: just negotiated a leave out with the trouble 'n' strife for Sunday 25th.. Rock on :D

Just to let you know gooner_kev you can enter that way but you won't be near the start of the trail, more in the middle/otherside so it's worth getting a map so you can plot a route. If you don't want to pay the parking fee, at the road leading to the entrance, I think there are some lay-bys abit further down where you could park :)

As long as you remember where you came in, its not really a problem :) . Last time I was there the laybys near the entrance seemed to be pretty full, but no harm in looking as you get closeby.

Thanks. We drive down from Surrey, so is quite pricy with petrol etc. That really helps.

As for conditions, we were there last week, and apart from a small uphill muddy section (100m or so, just pushed) it was fine.

If you're there on Sunday afternoon look out for a couple of reprobates riding them like they stole them, I'll be the one on the orange Anthem :)

Went along this afternoon - was great fun 8) Mud has all dried out apart from a few tiny patches. Was so well dried it was getting dusty in parts! Managed 2.5 laps at a decent pace and only one comical dismount into the bracken and gorse....

    Holy thread resurrection Batman

Did you see any evidence of them building a black run? - sure it was mentioned somewhere but I saw nout when I was there last.

  • The entrance to the black run is just after the exit from the 2nd section of singletrack , signs are up but they have branches across the entry .

    guess its still closed
