Here in the States some company sells some stuff called EP-NO. It's been on sale now for 5 or 6 years, so someone must be buying into it's hype. It sort of amazes me that people can get sucked into this kind of thing. I laughed when I first saw it in a catalog and
was actually kind of jealous that I hadn't thought of it myself. People make bunches of money on this kind of thing. Ethical or not. I remember as a 16 year old wannabe bodybuilder reading the muscle mags and saying "Gee, wish I had the money to buy some of those supplements that I "must have" to get BIG. So I guess I understand why they sell so well. They must work because I didn't buy them way back when and, sure enough, I didn't get big. Plus I'm not buying them now and I'm slow as h*ll on the bike.

Looks like echinacea is their "active" product. I recall a study a couple of years ago where they reported a rise in natural epo production on subjects taking ~8 g per day.

Ah, it's been referenced here. Malcolm Whitehead.

I have a feeling some of their research was funded by a supplements company.

So they're claiming that it’s not illegal because it's natural EPO not synthetic? Does it really matter as I thought UCI still stuck to the 50% rule......synthetic or not.

Sounds just like all the other "super duper uber muscle boost" adverts that keep poping up!

No, it's not illegal, because it's echinacea. Some studies have found that it boosts the body's natural methods of producing epo so you make more - different from injecting r-epo. I wouldn't have thought it would put you in danger of breaking the 50% rule unless you were pretty close to it already.

so does this mean I can just take echinachea instead ?

Either that or just do some proper training and improve that way with hard work

Well, the echinachea is easier. IF it works.
