Has anybody tried these? Any thoughts on them before I invest 26 beers in them?

    Ah, yes - sorry. :)

I've been told they're very good for "cobble-spanking", but are prone to cutting up. I'm considering a set of Paves for training, but too much detritus on the commuting roads for me to want to risk them at that price.

I use 'em and love 'em.

I use them exclusively on my road bike which is also used as a commuter for 8 months of the year.
2000 miles and one p-visit that was my fault for going over a flint track
Very smooth ride even at high pressures.
The roads I go on have more than their fair share of potholes and general crud but are remarkably light on glass though.

I will get them again but I am open to suggestions from those who know better. From experience, not here say.

Anything as good, as comfy and cheaper? or
As good, as comfy and last longer?

PS:- How much are beers in your area? 26 could be cheap, or expensive!
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

I've said "read" in there, but I think it was a clubmate who told me over the forum. Is that "read" or "heard"? :)

@daviesee - I use Durano Pluses for the commute after a recommendation from some folks on here (used Gatorskins before then). I pumped them up to 105psi on Monday and the ride felt quite firm, but they're great - have also used them on weekend training rides and for the recent Surrey Rumble (76 miles). Have also used them numerous times over the cobbles on Wapping Hig St - it ain't Flanders, but I go at a fair lick for a laugh and they're not in greatest shape. Ideally, I'd prefer a softer tyre for longer, weekend rides during the summer, but like my GP4000Ses. And the Paves are green. Just not sure the green will go with my silver and black frame :P .

They are the best tyre ever but I wouldn't use them for commuting if that makes sense.

I've had Continental Attack/Force, Michelin Pro Races, Krylions, Rubino Pros... you name it and these are the smoothest tyres ever. I haven't had any cuts either but I have only done around 50 miles on them so I don't know how well they will hold up.

You don't listen, do you? Go. Away.

Actually, if you could let me know how get on with them this weekend, that would be great. :)

The possible colour clash won't be a problem. I'm hardly a sartorial tsunami on the bike as it is, so one more clash isn't going to matter.

    Initial Thoughts
Original Tyres 25mm wired Gatorskins pressure 110psi. 2x 6.5m wet commutes

The scales; Considerably lighter than original
    Fitting; No problem.
Ride; Inflation 120psi. Feel sharper underfoot, Cornering in wet much improved. While I've only ever completely lost it in the wet once on the Conti's, riding normally I dont feel on the edge of traction. They ride over the hardcore that passes for resurfacing in Oxfordshire with ease seeming to transmit less buzz to the bars. This may well be the higher inflation pressure.
I'm impressed so far. Will post more long term.

Yes they're green, no they don't match the bike, they do smell lovely when new. Cool, I'm 46 with a beard, Emma Thomson saying "arse" on Desert Island Discs is cool. Actually it's something very different but let's not discuss that.

Apparently the Paves are the ultimate clincher tyre on wet surfaces, havent tried them yet on a torrential downpour to testify it though...
