A nice jersey.

It's my birthday coming up, and with some of the money I get for it, I fancy the idea of getting a really nice jersey.

I've figured since it's a birthday present it should be quite luxurious!

I had my eye on the Rapha dutch country jersey, being Dutch and all.

http://www.rapha.cc/country-jersey-09

Alas, it's not available in my size (small).

I obviously want it to feel very nice, and I am also keen on it looking quite smart.

I'm not particularly keen on the super-performance orientated stuff, which I tend to think looks slightly naff.

I also tend to think the classic rapha jerseys, aside from being even more bloody expensive, look a bit ' look at me I'm wearing rapha' rather than a nice jersey that happens to be rapha (if that doesn't sound totally stupid).

So, any recomendations?

The Rapha jerseys are very nice, I have a couple. If you're looking for alternatives, one of my faves is the Campagnolo heritage, really nice material, very luxurious, but very figure hugging!

You can get a s/sleeve version too

They do look nice (the s/s version!)

I take it you like the feel of them?

Would it look too ridiculous wearing it whilst riding a bike with a 2005 Sora groupset?

Or you could get 2 Foska jerseys....... not luxury items but they are fun! I had a group of school kids cheering on Duff-Man the first time I went out in mine.

Yeah, they feel really good. The material is a bit weird, very thin and really stretchy, but I love it. Looks ace too, whatever you're riding. I've got the black s/sleeve, but thinking of getting the l/sleeve now I see Wiggle have it on offer. Damn you

my new training jersey should be here today, so I'll let you know. Not as cheap as a lot but I want something quality that will last me several years as a mid-layer in winter and spring/autumn outer layer.

A couple of guys I've ridden with have their stuff and swear by it, and from what I have seen they look great quality and fit.

I have the gilet and shorts and like both.

That Shott gear looks really nice, but appears to be a loose cut. Is that so?

give them a call on the number on the site. IIRC different jerseys are cut slightly differently, so its worth a chat with them. Very friendly and helpful as well :)

We went for a velcro pocket instead, much easier to open/close on the road, with or without gloves, under a gilet or cape.

Between us we've had many small zips break in our cycling careers but never velcro!

If you try the velcro and don't get on, send it back and we'll add a zip FOC!

    Hi Pete,

Great news ! I'm pretty certain it did not mention on the jersey descriptions that they had a velcro pocket - this swings things favourably. Will get an order in asap.

    Regards.

Or they can email us too, I seem to be working most nights since we did the new site...

If you want more of a race fit just try a size down, it works for 90% of our customers... If not then we do offer an easy exchange or refund policy.

Not sure that a zipped or velco-ed pocket is necessary, but I have another question. Why no full length zip on any of your short sleeved jerseys? (Other than the Ordea team jersey...)

Coming on the new summer jerseys, just mens though... The women we asked prefer a shorter zip for obvious reasons...

We were with C+ guys yesterday so expect a review of new kit soon...

Good to see the new stuff on your site miggers and the Shutt Training Jersey looks great, just don't understand why there isn't a full zip. A short one is OK but not anywhere near as flexible.

Also, not much information on your site on the new Pro bib shorts and especially the insert, shape of, type of, etc. I'm guessing it's a better insert than the one used in your standard shorts, but how?
