Not tried either of those. Previously wore Endura FS260 Pro bibs which are great for 50 or 60 miles, but just don't feel as naturally comfortable as the Xenons from the start and after 50 or 60 miles the chamois starts to chaff in important and sensitive places even with cream0 -
Assos, choose any of the bibshorts models, you csn'y go wrong.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0

But you'd have to get the Xenon jersey to go with them...... I did. I may be slow and a little fat but damn I look good!!!0

+1 Gore Xenon
Giordana Tenax for the budget optionFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
I was after some Tenax, but can't find anywhere with the medium black/black or blue/black in stock. Are they discontinued or something?0

Either Assos 13 S5's or Lidl's.... or something in between :roll:0

my tri buddies on your side of the pond swear by DeSoto 400 mile shorts. They are impossible to get over here without importing, so I have no personal experience but they are supposed to be hugely comfortable.
If the £-$ improves I might grab some on my next trip over.Your Past is Not Your Potential...0 -
Assos Mille. Probably the most expensive but I have 2 pairs of Mille shorts which are over 4 years old and still going strong after many, many miles. Superbly comfy.0

Yes.
+2 I have the Giordana Tenax shorts and really rate them, so much in fact I am about to buy some more in different colours. Oh and they have a MP3/Phone pocket on the strap parts of the bib shorts which I find really handy for carrying my MP3 player.Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!0 -
I have the xenons and some Cannondale LE Carbons. Can't really tell much of a difference to be honest, and I'm very happy with both, but the xenons are strictly dry weather only with those white panels.0

Ordered the Xenon's today. Will see how they compare to the Unos.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Anyone tried the Castelli body paint bibs? Got Gore Ozon II shorts, 8hrs in the saddle and no discomfort at all. Might go for the Xenons next as am loving whole Gore range, but not sure if turning up in all Gore is bit much!0
-
The Skins ones got a good review recently in one of the cycling mags, might try those or the Gore's next. Not overly impressed with the Assos Uno S5's I have but that's probably because I'm a bit fat for them (38" waist and the TIR are still overly tight around the crotch/thighs and as I'm only 6' the bib straps are a bit loose on the shoulder). XL in other shorts I have mostly fit fine (apart from Castelli) but the pad isn't as good as the Assos one.0

Well after hearing all of the opinions, I think I'm gonna go with the Giordana Tenax bibs. Thanks for all the input!-The Cowboy

what about some that come down slightly longer on the leg - just above knee height (not 3/4 length) ?? Any brands that fulfill this need?0

I have the same pocket, but can't imagine using it as I don't have a waterproof iPod
I'll +1 the recommendation for Giordana though. They're a little snug, so be careful on sizing. For me the most important part of the bib is the chamois, and Giordana make several bibs that share a chamois with the Giordana but are even cheaper, so they might be an option for you as well.

I know the OP's ordered, but I got this month's C+ on the mat yesterday and it's got a review of loads of bibshorts if anyone else is still deliberating.0

Well, the Editors choice were the Rapha three quarters bib (9/10 - £160) , and the Castelli body paint (9/10 - £175).
The Best Buys were the Sugoi Ti (9/10 - £103.50) and the Nalini Cicos 3 (9/10 - £42.99).
Womens was the Sugoi RSE bib short (9/10 - £110)0 -

Interesting. Were Assos in there this time round? Has the game moved on?

The Editor's clearly got more disposable income / fewer wives than me. I'll be shopping at the lower end of the best buys budget range.0

Agreed. Though we know that the Uno's are a 10/10 product. Perhaps they thought it unfair to test everything against them!
I do wonder how they left them out this time.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

You would think the reviewers would at least look at the forums and see which products people are talking about.
For example, Giordana shorts are highly rated on the forum with several threads about them ,but no reviews on them.0
