Ha! There are some bell-ends about (both online, making there way to the front of ASL's and passing through red lights at speed and without even looking).
I'm all for more cyclists. Just wish they tried to learn road etiquette and road saftey.Food Chain number = 4

Calm down, I dont think theres any need for such bitching. To be fair the guy has a point, looking down your nose at people from the high ground isn't a great thing to do. I bet if we all go back to our riding when we first started commuting we'd wince a bit too??? Or was every one else born awesome on here?
I certainly have learned a lot in the last few years, both from experience and picking up tips from people on here. We are supposed to be encouraging people onto their bikes after all.
That said I'm still glad I dont have to cope with London traffic on my ride.0 -

Oi! I use one of those and great kit they are too. And less of the HiViz bashing while you're at it. My standard winter clothing is one of those, anything to try and help the nuts behind the wheels spot me.
And yes, it does give me a nice, warm feeling when I scalp a lycra road-warrior, the shame they must feel as they watch my Hump move into the distance*

So you can use the bag for non cycling purposes? My missus uses a 'hump' to cover her black rucksack - it's yellow but more importantly it's reflective.- 2023 Vielo V+1

What's wrong with a hi-viz rucksack for every day usage? Back to the late 80s style.
Edit: I am sure we all have alittle hi-viz in our wardrobe, and I am sure we all have at least a little lycra as well"Bed is for sleepy people.

Why do you cite my post (and only my post) as an attack on the previous poster as oppose to the four posts prior to mine that directly address him. Why?
How do you know that I'm even talking about him?
Have I even made a comment about the fairweather nodders and the things they do that are often annoying, dangerous and rude?
Yes I did make a joke about those disgusting hump covers.

Guilty as charged. I can't help it, it's genetic. All my family has been born awesome for generations and I'm pleased to say it appears to have been passed on to my sons.Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.0 -
To all the awesome ones on here, well done.
To DDD I had assumed you were calling the man who objected to the anti-newbie slagging a bell end, if that is not correct I apologise.
Yes I could have quoted any of you, I dont know how to quote multiple people, yours was simply the most recent. Another example of my non-awesomeness. Again, so sorry.

Imagine the scalpee's suffering when the hi viz goes past.
I have a high-viz dhb Amberley and got choose the same colour scheme for the wind-proof Altura jacket I got with my C+ subscription :-)
As CJ says, it's all about the wolf in sheeps clothing :-) No one expects the guy in high-viz to be able to rock 30mph

To clarify, I was calling people who ride with disregard to others bell-ends, my reference of people online was off-the-cuff but no less valid.

OK
Beginners aren't numpties. Numpties are numpties. Tw@ts are Tw@ts. Beginners are beginners. Pr!cks are Pr!cks.
I have years of the experience on a flat bar bike of any sort. When I rode my Giant M2 I was a pr!ck. I can look back and say that. Still a beginner to serious commuting I was over confident arrogant and had no concept of the rules of the road (I didn't fully understand how to turn right at a junction or turn right from a main road to a minor - I had yet to pass my driving test).
When I got my first road bike in August 2008, given the speeds I was achieving I quickly realised the importance of road safety and following the rules.
Personally I think its the mentally of the cyclists that determines what category they fall into. you can be a beginner and realise (be aware of) your safety and the safety of others. Or you can be a beginner and have total disregard for those around you. i.e. pr!ck.Food Chain number = 4

Erm, not Focus House.......Leon House, a stones throw away from the centre of Croydon ;-)
Slightly better then where we used to be based as I now get a 0.1 mile longer ride to get to/from the offices and we're on the 20th floor so have awesome views looking south and can see Wembley on a clear day looking north :-)0
