Blackberry vs Iphone

both the Iphone and BB (bold, storm,curve) are like bricks - check out the BB 8220 - all the features and half the size0

My GF's got a Blackberry (dunno which one, probably one of the cheaper ones) and I don't like it much. Maybe I've been unlucky but using the internet is a fairly painful experience. If I was buying one I'd be tempted by an HTC Desire I think.
As for iPhone apps, I don't really get why this is such a big deal for people. Surely 99% of them are pointless tat?0 -

I love my iphone, and I'm an Apple fanboy. But its always really hard to recommend a solution to other people. Beyond using the things as an actual phone, most devices have some kind of compromises on all the other stuff, with different strengths and weaknesses. Everyone's usage profile is a bit different, so a shift of a few % usage towards photos, or browsing, or email, or the ability to read work docs or whatever can make a big difference in the best choice for that individual.
I'm always amazed that people either get into arguments slagging off iphones, or trying to convince someone else that their criticisms of iphones are wrong....at the end of the day, people find the phone that suits them, and if they like it they like it...
Why iphone works for me!
- browsing tinterweb, really good, and I do this more on my phone than calls or texts.
- the text message "conversation trail", so you can see all messages to and from a person - a little thing, but so much more useful than inbox/outbox
- there are enough good apps/games out there, and I do use them. (if you are not interested in apps, then certainly that may reduce the perceived attraction of the iphone)
- I like its style/looks
- UI (but these really are a very personal thing)
- typing: i got used to the touch keyboard no probs, but i can see why ex BB users might take time to adjust - or in fact always prefer the bb solution.
- tarriff: now I'm out of my original contract i only pay £20 a month for 600 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited tinterweb
weaknesses - not a full on business device (which i don't need it to be)
- camera/no video on my 3g , but I don't really give a stuff about those, (hence, as with my above explanation, I like the iphone despite this)
- lack of multitasking: email/browser/texting not really affected, and you can listen to music in background, but apps can quit if a call comes in - frustrating when doing well at a game!!!
- original costs high (although I don't know how they compare)0 -
PBo, you can get an app that will let you record video on the iphone 3g, ivideocamera it's called just incase you do want one for your phone0

For me, the BB wins! I had an HTC magic, and was definitely underwhelmed, the battery life was awful after 6 months use, doesn't last more than 8 hrs. Admittedly, I'm a fairly heavy user wrt texting but this was stupid.
So I got a Blackberry bold to replace it and much prefer it. Its not quite as good as the HTC for some things (prefer the texting conversion layout on the HTC, as well as the widgets) However, the keyboard makes the bb much faster to use, plus it doesn't crash all the time, furthermore, the battery lasts all day!You live and learn. At any rate, you live0 -
I cant compare the I-phone or BB since I've never owned them (So this is a bit pointless really) but I go a HTC Desire last week and I think it's brilliant. Fats internet, easy typing e-mails and texts and some useful map and weather stuff. the only thing wrong so far (and I'll have to see if I can download a widget) is that it doesn't seem to have voice recognition.0

HTC all the way. The HD2 opens up a six pack of whoop ass on the iPhone (HD2 recently replaced my iPhone).
Fortunately the world is still licking Apple's balls and no one has noticed so I get to be different for a while.
Complete agree here. I have the new HTC Desire, all my friends have iphones and blackberry's and mine wins everytime . Cheating at pub quizes, calling people, texting, games, internet, musice, video. Does it all. And costs so much less.0 -
Managed 50 + without either.Reckon I will stay the course quite happily for my remainder.
Oops just drop my bit of slate.

I like the BB (Curve 8520)
It's definitely not as fun as the iPhone, but I find it does work relate stuff better.
As said, e-mails are epically good, and allow me to send/receive e-mails from my 5 different e-mail accounts all at once.
I got office for it as well, which is handy.
Also for me, my BB costs me less than £20 a month, with the BB free, unlimited internet, 300 free minutes and texts, and the BB booster (epic e-mail stuff, BB messanger).
While an iPhone would have cost around £30-£35, for a similar package.
So cheaper, less fun, but better for work related stuff."I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost;
Than never to have loved at all."

BB for work. Was thinking about getting an iphone, but just run my work phone now. The way I see it, is if I got an Iphone, I'd want the 32gs one. it would therefore cost me about £40 a month and £200 up front. For that sort of money I can get a £1k bike on C2W and have change left over.
