Got a Blackberry the other day. Must say that so far I'm pretty impressed with it. So what's the argument? Blackberry or iphone?

I carry around both. (work and personal)

iPhone wins every time, although the newer BB's are pretty good.

iPhone everytime, agree that newer BB's are better but the Storm2 closes the gap but still isnt as good. The iPhone UI hasnt been beaten although I have to admit the camera is shite.

The range of apps on the iPhone make it a stand out bit of kit. Cyclemeter is £3 and is as good as entry level Garmin GPS for bike which cost many many times more.

    Neither.

HTC all the way. The HD2 opens up a six pack of whoop ass on the iPhone (HD2 recently replaced my iPhone).

Fortunately the world is still licking Apple's balls and no one has noticed so I get to be different for a while.

I have not that long got an Iphone and it does have some things that let it down, which will give the android phones a chance.

Would like to try one and see what its like up against the iphone.

IPhone, even for email, work and private.

Great GUI, Great Apps....only thing that lets it down is its Radio performance. Iphone will drop signal before a Nokia/SE and will switch between 3G to 2G too easily. Not a problem in areas with good signal penetration....

Best Phone I have owned in many years.

In my opinion Blackberry was never very exciting for me, had one way back in 2005/6, wasn't impressed then and less impressed now. They are massively popular over here, but Iphone is gradually taking over now that the 32GS has finally been released (2 weeks ago).

HTC not in the same league I am afraid. They were also popular here but mostly as a cheap alternative to the others and they are really losing market share now.

And that has nothing to do with Licking Balls

I've got a Palm Pre myself, a bit more unique and would be just as good as (or better than) the iPhone if only it had such a range of apps.

One thing I do find a pain is that the iphone does not multi task, which most phones do and my N96 did very well.

Tis possible if you crack it and install backgrounder.....not that I am in anyway advocating this or admitting that I have installed this great app.

I have a G1 (Google phone) and love it.

I also have a Palm Pre, but the radio isn't good enough for the area we live in.

Both have a keypad and don't rely on the on-screen ones, which I don't like. They both have touch screens, too, which the BBs don't.

I like the idea of the iPhone. Have never got on well with BBs, but that's possibly something to do with poor provisioning, so I didn't get the facilities I was supposed to have, without big hassles... :-/ That's aftersales service, not really the phone.

I have the use of both. iPhone is definately the smarter peice of kit, but if you are going to be doing a lot of typing on it (chat, emails), then I much rather use my BB.

If price is an issue, BBs are a fair bit cheaper...
  • BB given to me by work - i hate it! mind you do not want a iphone as i think apple are just as evil - if not more so - as any other large corporation!

why? Not just Apple, but why do you think all big corporations are evil?

    Im another for none of the above. My Sister and her 3 kids all have BBs and they appear to be quite useful for staying in touch with each other for free (I believe), I will never own an apple product, once upon a time they were cool, now they arent. Im getting the below;

    http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile- ... sson-vivaz

As long as it rings when people are trying to call me and vice versa, text messages, go on the net once in 6 months if Im not able to find out if Spurs have won, take photos and listen to music, thats all I need a phone to do. I certainly dont want one that my Employers can send .xls .doc to for me to work on.

As others above, work BB & personal iPhone.

I wish I hadn't become an iSheep, but iPhone wins for me every time - apps (as long as chosen carefully), interface, email, internet - just seems to trounce the BB at everything. I was worried about the touch-screen but it's such a nice thing to use. Camera and battery life are not great, however.

Had a short trial of an HTC (the one with the angled bottom edge - name?) and couldn't get on with it, but admittedly I didn't give it much time.

Would be interesting to see how the iPhone would hold up for work - calendar sync, worldwide use, etc.

I look at the BB as simply a tool for work that does an okay job. I hate to admit it, but the iPhone does lots of things very well and is also a nice thing to own.

The BB even comes with an 'off' function... although the term Crackberry was well coined. Set the 'office hours' and you can ignore work.

The GPS on the BB is awful. Mine will put me in a building down the block wihile my office mate's iphone will be dead on.
30% of iphone calls in NYC are dropped, I believe the latest version has improved on this.
I just got the new BB Tour for work and it seems OK, if Verzon were to offer the iPhone I would get one, maybe later this year.
  • I'm more than happy with my Blackberry Bold 9700. Used my daughter's iPhone once for just a day & couldn't get on with it.

I'm happy with mine & she's happy with hers. Which is best? Whatever you find suits your needs.

    iPhone 3GS had that
Blackberry Curve got one for work
T-Mobile Touch (HTC Hero) - Current Phone

iPhone was nowhere as good as my Garmin 705 for nav. I don't care how much anyone protests it wasn't. Blackberry is epic for handling email which is why it is a great phone, it's also why I hate it so much as I alwas get my email wherever I am in the world. HTC Hero, brilliant love the social networking apps, has Air Traffic Controller game available on the android market data is handled much better than iPhone also links to googlemail exceptionally well.

Before any thinks I am a apple hater, i Should point out I have a MacBook Pro, had the translucent iMac before that and Apple Pro before that. I love apple I just think the iPad and iPhone fall a little short in terms of OS and power.

  • BB for me as I don't want all those apps or the temptation of them. Office downstairs from me seems to spend the whole day comparing the latest life-wasting app they have just downloaded. I just want something that is a phone, can handle emails, manage diaries and make limited use of the web and I am happy with my BB.

nah iphones are the way to go - use it for everything from dictation to book reading to web browsing to emails to navigation and oh yeah it can be used as a phone as well. :D

My wife works at a university in a equity role - the blind students are all over the iphone especially its built in text to voice ability.

Only downside is that you need to feed it daily, but its seriously one of the neatest devices out.
