One of my favourite riders, but I always had the uneasy feeling he was the product of some French "Care in Community" scheme. Probably second only to Abdou in terms of random acts of agression.

His shoes are black, though and no white arm or legwarmers.
    Lightweight.

Yes, I remember a couple of Tour's ago he took exception to some twat that tried to grab a water bottle from his bike after he'd finished a stage.

Although he doesn't particularly seem the fighting type, I'm having Stuart O'Grady as my pick in ProTour Fighting Pundit.

I'd got for Frank Hoste. He's just got a suspended sentence for duffing someone up.

    Proper Flemish hard man

Remember when he sprinted full-tilt into a bunch of French Dockers (?) who were blocking the road during a TdF stage? Staright into them & started lamping them!
Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.
  • I believe Hayden Roulston already has form doesnt he?

Isn't that photo taken from the same incident? Christ, of all the Unions to start a fight with, dockers wouldn't be at the top of my list! I'd give them BA folk a good doing over though

I think you're right Phil. Arm warmers are a rare sight in July in France, as are coats.

I was just getting into cycling at the time. Hinault received broken ribs in this fight. It was 1984 Paris Nice and was reported briefly by Dicky Davis on World of Sport. Gotheteeshirt2 was either leading Paris Nice GC or stage winning at the time..hence the report made UK news.
