Next update and almost there. Few issues, will explain at the end.

Fitted rear tensioner. May change this as not convinced by it's effectivness.

    SDC10659.jpg

Next was to fit the new bash.

    The chain ring before bash

    SDC10660.jpg

The brand new bash with brand new bolts

    SDC10661.jpg

    Oh Ohhhhhh

    SDC10662.jpg

    SDC10663.jpg

Bash doesn't fit! The gap for the crank arm isn't wide enough. Both being Shimano I never thought there woud be an issue! No surplus so open to offers on this if anyone interested!

Cleaned the chain ring and refitted.

    SDC10664.jpg

Moved onto the chain. Bought this a bit blind as wasn't sure it would fit or be long enough etc.

    SDC10665.jpg

    Tried and plenty long enough!

    SDC10667.jpg

Realised the rear sprocket wasn't in line so adjusted it

    Before

    SDC10670.jpg

    Wrong egain?

    SDC10672.jpg

    In line, I think

    SDC10675.jpg

Made the chain shorter with a little chain splitter I have had for a while and never used. Very happy with how effective this is for such a small piece of kit

    The tools

    SDC10676.jpg

    Done

    SDC10680.jpg

    Split arse, sorry link

    SDC10682.jpg

    Still a bit baggy?

    SDC10679.jpg

Removed another link and much better fit

    SDC10683.jpg

    New pedals

    SDC10685.jpg
    SDC10686.jpg

    Copper grease as always

    SDC10688.jpg

    Fitted

    SDC10690.jpg

Gonna leave it there until full photos are taken of it complete as more or less there.

I have a few issues I need help with.

    1. Chain slips off when pedaling. Not elined as I thought or tensioner?
    2. My forks are 20mm bolt. Wheel is 20mm but when tight the wheel can move side to side? when brake is fitted it pulls it to one side but this too close the fork as the disc bolts touch the forks? Spcaers needed?

Also having an issue with headset and top cap but will resolve this tomorrow. Probably gonna fit a new headset altogether!

    Comments and help appreciated!

    FFS

Just been speaking to my sis and my nephew has told her he wants a trials bike as thats what his mates are getting!

Put my own money into this for him and as i'm 6 ft and 17 stone (I play rugby  ) I don't think this is gonna be any good for me personally so looks like I may sell if he doesn't want it.

If anyones genuinly interested please let me know and make me an offer.

Will prob put up a proper ad when I'm done but nothing better than this thread for people to see what I have done!

    Finished! (ish lol  )

Ok resolved the problems I had and have now finished the build. Just awaiting the new white seat clamp (one I received was too small) and need to paint and finish the front frame badge. Also need to replace the chain tensioner as the spring has gone and doesn't hold tension to stop the chain slipping (new one ordered).

    So, final spec -

GT Chucker 3.0 16" frame. Striped and resprayed in matt black with new white "GT" decals.
Marzocchi Bomber DJ 100mm forks. Resprayed black with new white "Bomber" declas.
26" Halo SAS white wheels with Halo spin doctor hubs and black spokes. 20mm front and QR rear.
Maxxis Holy Roller tyres (brand new)
    DMR single speed kit (16t)
Shimano Deore M535 hydraulic brakes with 160mm discs
Shimano Saint hollowtech cranks with Shimano hollowtech BB
    Shimano 32t front crank ring
    Raceface alloy bash guard
    White chain (brand new)
Gusset White flat pedals (brand new)
    FSA Headset (brand new)
    Kore stem (brand new)
    Azonic carbon fibre bars
White GT lock on grips (brand new)
FSA 27.2 seat post (brand new)
    Funn black saddle (brand new)
White Gusset seat clamp (brand new - awaiting)
Da Bomb RL-2 Chain Tensioner (brand new - ordered)

And the finished product (bar the bits i'm awaiting)-

Unfortunately it looks like I will be selling the bike. My nephew has told his mum he wants a trials bike as this is what his friends want. I built the bike for him based on his budget (even though I went over a lot) and being 6ft and 17st the bike isn't really suitable for me although I may see how she performs over the next week or so.

For genuine interest please see the for sale thread - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... 0#15996240

Thanks all for the kind words and advice throughout the build!

This thread is probably the most inspiring work i've seen, having had my ala carte re-sprayed o've always woundered how to rennovate a frame myself and this is very easy in fact.

Although mine had the kiln treatment and facing etc its not that important (really) but i appreciate he done it for me.

I like the minimal look it ace and its a shame your too big and having to sell it. Now i'm off to re-spray about everything haha.

    Good work!
