Speaks for itself:

Lets see if any of the big guns have any balls to make an attack from 40k and hold it.

Wiggins already put in an attack but was quickly reeled in by RS. Nice one Brad.

At km 92, Westra (Vacansoleil), Kwitakowski (Small farm loan bank), Barta (NetApp) and Barth (German Selection) at 3.50 and Blain somewhere inbetween (or maybe caught)

Isn't this really the stage 3 thread? Can you change the title FF?

Big day for Wiggins, given that he announced this race would be his first (proper career?) dig at a GC win. Still lots to play for tomorrow, I realise, but this is where it starts...

Or in the inimitable style of babelfish:

the leader Robert Hunter has left the race because woman has put itself of childbirth

'At a relentless pace'. So is the Whack Shack doing US Postal tactics which are no good to watch and destroy the opportunity for class attacks.

Didn't CSC also employ these to good effect for Sastre's Tour win?

Isn't using your team to control the race how you're supposed to win bike races? Especially very short stage races.

To be fair, it looks to me like that tweet is saying the breakaway groups and the peleton are all going at a relentless pace. And there's no telling who's on the front either, could be Sky or Rabo??

Anyone attacked yet? Doesn't look like it from the ticker, although they seem to be focusing largely on the leaders...

It would be a disgrace if no one did. Waiting to make the difference in the TT tomorrow is lightweight and lacking in panache.

Who's going to go for it.

Pretty useless ticker this. The main climb has come and gone in almost complete silence, and we suddenly find ourselves with 23 km to go, the 4 early attackers reeled in, and Weening in the attack. and some group at 15 seconds. Who? How? When?

    Peter Weening, it seems!

If a guy in black shoes attacked, would that be ok?

On a seriously note, I gather it's still pretty windy so maybe guys don't fancy torturing themselves in the wind to get a victory in a training race.

    Weening (Rabobank)

    To 15 " Group 1

To 30 " Group 2: Armstrong and Wiggins.

OK, we have names: Jufré (Astana), Denifl (Cervélo), Ruijgh y Poel (Vacansoleil)

Vacansoleil seems to have a 2-man-attack strategy these days...

And looking at the passage at the top of the col it was Equipo Cielo doing the chasing uphill

FJS - I'd imagine you'd get more info if the race was on TV/streaming. As it is there appears to be one ticker and the odd bit of info from cars etc.

sure. But if not live TV you'd hope nowadays race organizers make sure someone's giving some detailed coverage of race radio...

Potentially good news for Wiggo that Froome was able to be his mountain lieutenant here. Bigger hills than this to come, etc etc of course....

I guess we have to wait until Paris Nice to see potential GT podium finishers attack with real intent.

Although maybe after seeing highlights things will appear different (10min highlights every day).
