    Top would involve Lightweight wheels...

Surely your S2 can be classed as a top bike?

I suppose, but funnily enough, the frame on my winter/trainer was more expensive...

I took five minutes to think today and concluded that considering I have enough for an S2 now, I might just keep saving for another six months and go for an S3 but aside from the rear chain-stay cant see that much difference...? Any ideas?

S3 is a little lighter but the main difference is indeed the chain and seat stays, the S3 chainstays are based on the P4's. This, however limits wheel choice.
The seat stays are thinner and are supposed to increase comfort, however the S2 is pretty damn comfortable!

  • I must say, cycling is the best cure for depression. I was diagnosed with it last year, I self harmed daily and made several attempts. I started becoming interested in cycling in about May, and it's so good to have something to do. I would love to have two top road bikes, but unfortuanetly I am very poor, so I have to make do with 5 non-top end road bikes, but I can live with them!!!!

Nice, I too have Lapierre. I have a Spicy 316 which is being sold tomorrow oddly enough. I still have my Santa Cruz hard tail however. To be honest I have much preferred the road to off road and after a nasty shoulder injury last year I dont want to hammer down hills as fast as I can now, just ride smart on the road....
