  • Nice route, did something similar in summer. If you're riding over from Stockton you have the added milage of having to get there in the first place!

It is fantastic riding out there though, looking forward to summer again this year to get out there.

We stayed in Fryup Dale last year, and I did a fair bit of cycling around there.

Throughly enjoyed it, though the steep gravelly descents can be quite scary if you keep off the brakes for a fraction too long!

Hope you didn't try going down the chimney, that is one frightening experience.

It will be a corker of a ride, look at the signature. Richboy. I have to admit this Scot knows my back yard probably better than I do.

Have a look at my 3 dales ride starting in Thirsk. About time I did this one again, well when the snow clears. http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-ki ... 0706618211

The good thing with this ride is, if you don't want to do one of the big hills, there is an alternative. So for example if you don't want to do Rosedale, just turn right at the top of Blackey and rejoin the group in Hutton le Hole.

No  Ended up in Rosedale a couple of times, but went up Heygate bank (?) back to Fryup. Some bloomin' steep hills that way as well !
