First time out on road last night after a work-enforced 2 week lay off, first week of it didnt turn a pedal, second week did three hard sessions on spin bike at gym plus a hard spin class (good instructor who rides a bike). Prior to that been training hard since Christmas.
Must have done me some good 'cos I felt like a had a bit of zip in my legs last night, did a hilly 2 hour route round south west sheff, and ripped up them, racing legs are coming out of winter hibernation

Most people think that when they have crap legs at a race its because they haven't trained enough, when in reality its because they haven't rested enough. A voluntary or enforced rest period does wonders for the body, physically and mentally.0

Same, period off, come back, and felt great."I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost;
Than never to have loved at all."

3 weeks hard, 1 week easy.

Just come back off my rest week, first little test today. 1 hour, 2x20 at 90% MHR with 5 mins recovery. Decided to crank it up a bit in the last 5 mins of the 2nd interval... up to 45KPH! If that's what a rest week does for you i'm having this week off too!"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Felt good this morning also - 50 mile round Peak District, bit windy out there though, but no sleet/rain that was forecast .
Now doing some voluntary rest.0
