I like to think I'm rightwingish, (old skool conservative), and I like immigration. I like foreign people, especially those who've travelled thousands of miles to be here. That takes a certain drive and ambition in of itself. Transferrable skill.

Economically speaking: with an ageing population and falling birth rate, immigration is a great way to offset that. Also saves us from doing the manky cleaning jobs.

How tf does it make me a racist, its a strong word to go throwing round. my objection is not based on colour or religion but on lack of useful skills.

Grow up and stop calling names, it doesnt convince anyone youre argument is stronger anymore.

Common sense is starting to come to the fore Liberal piety is no longer toerated like it once was. And an aids ridden immigrant without money or skills is just a liability to the country unless of course you can poiint out why my tax pounds are uysefully spent housing feeeding and keeping him alive?

that is a fact about aids infection levels and people bringing an epidemic here. either you didnt know that fupp or your just trotting out your who do you mean by that line for the effect. no kind of 'ism' attached just plain fact. go and read about where aids originated before it mutated to a human form.

What did Teagar do to get banned? I don't recall him doing anything which would get him kicked off the site.

    Blackpather.

Forgive the obvious question, but I'm confused.

If your name is blackpanther, why are you so anti-africans?

    It makes no sense.

Bblackpanther's real name is markwalker (deceased). Have a look at markwalker's profile, and check out his previous posts.

perhaps you should read about how hiv is transmitted before making statements about people brining epidemics' here the fact is the 'epidemic' you are talking about is already here-pehhaps you would wish us to 'control' the carriers of it that are amongst us.

its got nowt to do with epidemics- mark walker/blackpanther doesnt like brown people-its as simple as that

As a economic migrant working in Eastern Europe I have sympathy with anyone being away from loved ones working, it is not an easy choice to make. When I was working in my last job in dear old Blighty I introduced a scheme for young unskilled unemployed workers, the idea it would provide us with a bit of basic subsidised labour, the lads would get a decent wage about £300 a week and training. The company I worked would get the benefit when tendering for works in the public sector under EMAT principles, by putting something into the local area as part of its tender.

The scheme was an absolute disaster with one exception, of the four who were offered the job one failed the drugs test, the second walked off site just before his drugs test, the third lasted just over a month, started off reliable but tailed off. The fourth lad was working part time cleaning nights at Primark, while doing a part time QS'ing degree, he was absolutely brilliant, but he was never going to be an unskilled worker, we paid his fees and reimbursed his fees he'd already paid. A realy good bloke, it made up for the other numpties we had to endure.

On the question of these figures being "spin", Central and Eastern European countries have noticed the effects of a load of their people returning, I know from my experiences there that people no longer see the UK as a latter-day Eldorado, as they did just a few short years ago.

yes youre right, i personally never had a problem with the Europeans i do have a concern that the psunami of unskilled ecconomic migrants from other parts of the world and in Particular Africa is unsustainable on many levels

Did you watch the program? Most of the jobs that the eastern european immigrants were filling were unskilled...

I fail to see a Tsunami of imigrants from Africa, of course, there are a lot of African and Asian poeple in Britain today and for obvious reasons they are easy to spot. But there has been no sudden influx of them into the country under NuLab, although Immigration has gone up(as far as I am aware). HOWEVER, there has been a rapid influx of Eastern Europeans. They have had a massive inpact on some places, and this process has happened very rapidly.
When I wrote it has nowt to do with where you're from it's about your work ethic I meant exactly that. Not all foreigners are grafters, not all Brits are idlers.

TBH I was embarassed by the Brits in that programme. The next day I priced up a small bunch of asperagus in Tesco, £2 each the pickers were getting 38p a Kilo.

TBH, it's not a bad price, some of the hard working pickers were able to make quite a lot of money, furthermore, the farmer has to get his share, and then there's the work involved in packing and transport, then the supermarket has to get there share.

One of the myths peddelled by the far right (or if you read Sir Norman's blog in the Telegraph the far left), is that the influx of immigrants is to bolster labour voting, given that two well known second and third generation immigrants are Michael Howard and Michael Portillo, this isn't a very sucessful policy, even if it were a deliberate policy.

Then the right and not even the far right also peddle the myth that building council housing is left wing jerrymandering, just as some left wingers state that the right to buy was a right conspiracy.
  • as if all these immigrants settle in marginal constituencies anyway- the vast majority of economic migrants end up in the poorest (usually labour held) constituencies- even if the could or could be bothered to vote it would have little effect

If you google him there is indeed another Mark Walker, but he's a socialist - which would make him the Pink Panther.

This link is quite interesting. I cannot say where i work for fear of reprisals but we have a large number of Polish workers at my place of work. the company i am employed by bought a company in Poland and after minimum training workers are then sent to work at our place in the Netherlands. They are hard working and never complain but of course are far less technically capable than we are.I have heard from a good source in our main office that the idea is that we train these people up to be able to do everything and then we will be made redundant, even if it takes another 4 or 5 years. The men who work at our place are paid just over €1000 per month which i understand is far more than they would get if they were in Poland. Accident, incident and LTI are far higher than the local workers but they are so much cheaper than we are. I do not hold any grudge against these people but if we are made redundant at sometime in the future then i think my attitude towards these men will also change.

    +1

More to the point, what are the workers going to do to defend themselves? No point being passive and then blaming the Poles after they get sacked.
