How much do you love cycling

The snow thread got me wondering,,,
Is cycling the only sport you do, or are you a jack of all trades?
Do the sports you take part in complemnt each other? (each paddling for when it's raining, skiing when it snows, and bike when the sun shines) or hinder each other?
How do you find balance and progress at each?

Cycling is my one and only sport, although I do think about running but worry it'll knacker my knees up super bad, last time I attempted to run I did like 2.6 miles averaging 6mph, not constant running though, and I was aching for at least 5 days after O_o0

Now training for Tri's as I didn't want to get too focussed on cycling and then get depressed when the weather stopped me from riding.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

I love cycling.
I do do other sports, but don't enjoy them as much, I use the others to try to maintain a balance...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
I guess for me climbing is my main sport - then maybe a toss up between hill walking and cycling, with swimming next.
As any climber knows there a lot of comment on how you shouldn't cycle (big legs=bad) and ditto having forearms the size of trunks isn't adding much to your cycling.
But I really enjoy and plan to do both.blog: bellevedere0 -

Rowing comes first to me, but as a coach i get a lot of training done whilst doing that. A lot of base miles covered!
Cycling is my first sport that i do though.0 -

I do hill walking too but cycling is the one I miss when I go for a long spell without. I don't watch much sport other than cycling (don't even watch a lot of that tbh) but I've been hooked on the skiing lately.0

Biking, running, xc skiing, and a little swimming. Hiking sometimes and canoe tripping, but I consider those recreation instead of sport. Really happiest outside.0

cycling is my first love
But its twins as I love mountain biking & road :oops:0 -
Prior to 2008 I split my time roughly equally between motorcycling (GSXR1000), road cycling and mtbing but after a big crash at the end of 2008 which wrote the gixxer off (and almost wrote me off) I've not bought another big bike and I've just been doing the cycling, and gotten into it much more. Trained up for the Marmotte in 2009 and doing it again in 2010.
Love it to bits at the moment, possibly more than I ever have since my BMX days.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Only have time for cycling, spend enough hours doing that.0

swim, bike, run...
developing a passion for cycling though with some long distance rides coming up just for the love of it 8)Your Past is Not Your Potential...0 -
Used to run quite a lot but had a couple of stress fractures in my shin bones which stopped that. Was due to start again but had a bike crash which has knackered my hip. 3 months on and I'm still recovering and only just easing back into running, ironically though cycling doesn't really affect it. So for the moment, cycling is the one and only. Apart from the gym 3 times per week for some weights, but I don't really consider that a sport/hobby, just general strengthening...Do not write below this line. Office use only.0

I like cycling enough to do 3 hours in the p1ssing rain and wind yesterday.............although it's fair to say I stopped enjoying it when I lost feeling in my hands and could no longer change gear - I felt like a seal trying to operate the levers with flippers0

I dabbled in cycling as a kid but ended up concentrating on other sports for years such as bodybuilding and tennis. Then went back to cycling seriously 3 years ago and it's all I do now. I've completely immersed myself in it. Although, I'll most likely renew my tennis club fees next month and just dabble, rather than playing for the club. I'm glad I did the other sports but really do like the cycling now.
Plus with 2 kids under 4 I have to sacrifice something...otherwise I'll be divorced.0 -
I have chosen to do cycling and only cycling as I dont want to other sports to interfere with it.
The strange thing is, I don't think I love cycling :? The thing I love is training, I've chosen the bike at this moment in time as a way of getting that enjoyment.
An interesting philosophocal question for me is, if I won the lottery and gave up my job and so didn't commute by bike every day, would I still ride a bike?0 -
