Is it me or do the pivots looks awfully like a hope bottom bracket
They're definately the same type of cups (but not Hope) as you need a BB tool to take them off. Not entirely sure that the bearings inside are the same as BB bearings - anyone?
Got to admit if it was BB then it would by bl00dy handy and a neat and thoughtful piece of design.0 -

You can never have too many bikes, no and thankyou!0 -
Zaskar20 wrote:Can't believe it's coming in at about 29 -30lbs!
You've got a Bullit built up at under 30lbs!!! Sh*t a brick that's impressive! Mines rolling around 36lbs but then I do tend to thrash stuff so have to build it heavy.
Lack of funds means coil shocks as well, Totems and DHX 4.0. Saved a shed load of weight going tubeless on the wheels though, Mavic EX823's on Hope Pro 2 hubs.
I'm fit as a fiddle and still struggle to drag the beast up hill, but it sure is worth it to come back down again! Lazy European's and their poxy chair lifts, I sh*t em!
I say all this I'm actually waiting on a replacement at the moment, some turd has stolen the original. Should be 2 or 3 weeks until the missus is whinging at the muddy bike tracks through the kitchen again.
If anyone happens to be offered a Santa Cruz Bullit 09 model, Medium, white, with the above spec a substantial reward is on offer for the address of the seller. I'm a big bloke, they won't be once I'm finished!Life is hard, but so am I0 -

I'll be completely honest, my scales are utter cr@p - cheap luggage weighing version. Wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them! - Shouldn't have posted that weight untill I had weighed it accurately.
To be quite honest I'm not really bothered by the weight of this bike as I've got an light AM bike in the Enduro at 25lbs. This Bullit is for performing different duties altogether. Although I've yet to take it down local trails in the lighter guise, so I've no idea how differently it will perform.0 -

Went out for a 3.5hr ride today on the Bullit. Had some great fun.
The bike is set up much more to my liking (and riding style). Uphill sections are no longer a slog and I managed all but the steepest of inclines.
Downhill - what an absolute gem. Really, really smooth and very controlled. I'm sure it can be pushed much harder than I can ride it as I'm not the most radical when pointing downwards. But it does inspire great confidence and speed.
The forks had to be adjusted a couple of times during the ride (compression and rebound damping), but par for the course seeing as it was their first time out.
All in all extremely happy with this build at the moment. Looking forward to next outing.0 -
This is deffo my favourite bike at the moment. I'm having a blast with it, especially at the British national series Redhill 4X track. (Although I'm absolutely useless on it.)
I've added a few more bits (and a little more bling).
I have now weighed with digital bathroom scales (still not sure about accuracy) and it's coming in at a mighty impressive 29lbs!

Toby_Winkler wrote:Awesome bike! How do you manage to keep it so clean?!
Simple, I don't ride it!
Hope sh!t shifter, pressure hose to get cack off tyres and worst of the dirt from frame/forks (not anywhere near any bearings). Then I use Autoglym car wash with a sponge followed by a wipe down with a chamois.
Occasionally (about twice a year) I wax with Autoglym car wax.
This particular finish by Santa Cruz does seem to clean up really well though - like new infact. The frame is also second hand! - oh, and the forks.0 -
Now that's what you call a real clean!
Would never guess the frame and forks where 2nd hand, the whole thing looks brand new and like its never been ridden!
I suppose I would put more effort into cleaning if my bike was predominantly white.0 -

I do this after every ride - but it literally takes no more than 10 minutes.0 -
dear god man that looks the dog danglies 8)0

Added Hope levers and tech master cylinder caps in blue.
This should be the end of any additions on this particular bike.
Or maybe headset, crank bolts and chainring bolts in blue?0 -

Cheers Lawman.
Stuff ordered - fitting when it arrives.
When you getting your ride and what's it gonna be - Zesty?jay12 wrote:such a nice bike. love the blue and white scheme
Thanks Jay12. Not really a fan of Blue and White - Prefer Red and White (or Purple & Lime)
But sometimes you've gotta work with what you've got.0 -

nah crappy avaialability and the cracking issues have put me off, and having ridden one again back to back with an ibis mojo, i much prefer the ibis, both in terms of looks and ride, so im getting one of those, could be a few months yet, maxlight's gonna need alot of work in next month or so, so it'll probably be late november/early december when i finally get it0 -
WOW  That is a beautiful looking bike'09 Rocky Mountain Fusion0

Zaskar, is ther ever an end to your bike/ bits buying?

Zog I've got the 'compulsive mtb bitz buying disorder'. Gonna have to get some therapy sooner or later!
Got the headset, just gotta find a mechanic, with nothing better to do, to fit it!
BTW, wheels still going strong- even after all those dodgy landings at Redhill with my lardass coming down on them! Mind you, when the tabletops are only being cleared by a few inches!!!!!!jay12 wrote:btw is that the CRC edition e13 chainguide?stealthelite1986 wrote:jesus christ thats very white (and blue) haha0 -

im very very tempted to buy the frame now and put all the stuff from the maxlight on it, but some how i dont think a lime green frame and bright red wheels would work0 -

Get the frame now Lawman. Even if the red wheels clash at least it would look different! Anyhow, you could always change them sometime in the future.
Lime green and red - it's grabbing my attention already. Clashing colours could work and would certainly get it noticed.0 -
im sooo tempted, but i would like everything to be new on it, and seeing as i had a complete riot of a ride on the maxlight tonight i cant help but feel waiting wouldnt be so bad0
-
Probably finished now. Can't see how I can add to this now apart from getting individual parts anodized especially. Don't think I'm going down that route though.
Next project coming to the forum soon!0 -
What about blue goodridge braided hose for those hopesI assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.0
