Why fixed in the winter?

I don't quite understand what the benefits of riding fixed in the winter are supposed to be, I was out this morning and dropped a couple of guys riding fixed like they were standing still.
I maybe missing the point but if you want to spin, go to spin classes in the winter do your turbo sessions and Bob's your uncle.

Mind you I don't understand whats going on when a guy I ride with who is twice the age of most of the the local ninja'd up racing team, gave up racing ten years ago and he can still drop most of them without breaking sweat on the training rides.

Like he says some guy thinks he's british cyclings great white hope, 20 cannot go through on through and off against someone twice his age who hasnt raced in a decade is just taking the piss.
I know the old guys all go ooooh we all used to do it, but they used to eat lard on toast as well which probably didn't do them much good either.

    +1

    Too incoherent, even for you Jezmo. Stick to one topic at a time.

    That's probably because you caught em when they were track standing.

    What a Tosser, I think I'd swing fro him if I see him in my neck of the woods.

    Jezmo do you hear you are not welcome mate.
  • I have to say, I'm more intrigued by Bhima at this stage, is that for real?
    "In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

    @gietvangent
  • Lmao Jez! You couldn't even keep up with the sat bash, a 14 yr old and some older chap on a mountain bike lasted longer than you & we only dropped them when we started the through and off.

    Its quite ironic isn't it? How all your internet ramblings; especially the ones about how you hate time trials and think there for old people have left you to ride on your own like say............ a time trialist?

    Also thank God your not wearing the giro jersey anymore, although plz find a new pair of longs, preferably ones that aren't pink with giro on them.

    To answer your first point: Less gears- less maintenence.

    I would like to answer your other points but I can't really make out what the fuck your on about.
