Hi all,
Just wanted to share this fact. I have been turning the screw on the diet (change of lifestyle) and this week came in at a fraction under 95kg. A big deal to me as was ebbing towards 16 stone. Now in the 14 stone bracket. Not riding with anyone at the moment so no one to share it with. I like the forum, so there it is. I feel so pleased about it. Target weight is 14 stone at the moment and I feel like it is more than do able.
Figure if I can keep the power up and weight down then happy days.
Current regime is gym three mornings a week, 600 reps on a circuit designed for core work. Two decent rides on the road each week, some turbo and the odd trail ride on the MTB. Would love to ride more so counting down the days til Spring and some nice light.
Hope you are all getting there too....
regards,
Pete.

95kg (or less) with no power loss is my target too but I've still got some way to go....I’m a sprinter – I warmed up yesterday.0 -

Nice one Pete!
I share your joy!
The pleasure of the first climb on my first club run after losing 6 kg over winter was fantastic! It's like free speed!0 -
Sounds like you are a few months ahead of me Pete! After a stalled start to the year this weekend will see my first middle distance sportive at 55m but anticipate a little pain up the Surrey Hills after stacking up a few pounds during hibernation!
How long have you been pursuing your goal to get to where you are?
Encouraging comments from Nap D. Glad it gets easier.
Keep up the good work.Rose Pro DX Cross 3000

Thanks. It is all small gains at the moment, but in it for the long term.
I am behind schedule due to a crash but on track. I started back on the bike seriously last July when I rejoined a local club. Prior to that I had bought a £500 road machine (April 2008) to get to and from work which was 7 miles each way.
I then moved and now ride less than 15 minutes to work so I thought, lets get real and get some miles in. I feel in love with riding again simply due to commuting.
I realised that the science of cycling needs understanding to improve. Figured you cant just can get on a bike and ride like a demon to get slim. It wont happen. I have however learnt about heart rate, good carbs, protein and other training.
Today for example I went out and did 30 miles in just over two hours but endeavored to keep in Zone 3 on my Garmin as this is my fat burning zone. The paradox is that it is very easy to do, and allows the body to burn fat after glycogen but feel good. It teaches you disciplined riding too as you have to bring your zone in time after time. I have been throwing some 'big hills' into the mix on a Friday too which has been a big help, but I believe that leg press and squats are helping with my climbing - massively so.
The downside is that people may look at you thinking why is that guy dressed like Lance but not trying? Of course, no one knows what you are doing or where you have been!
Good luck and keep on keeping on.

Well done. Its great when targets start getting hit. im down from 22st last spring to 19st now.
joined a gym at the start of winter which has helped keep the momentum going and im now well ahead of the game in terms of fitness and am doing a 100k sportive a week on sunday. I climb like a lead balloon but you should see me come down the other side lol.
keep up the good work
