Should be interesting. If England get their players fit - Flutey and Delon Armitage with Strettle and Moyne they should have a bit of guile with alot of pace in their back line. Eng are still looking for a scrum/out half combo that works with the back line, but one or two good matches and its amazing what a bit of confidence can bring.
France looked good against ZA but seemed off the pace against NZ in the autumn. Which FR will turn up ? That said NZ played some great rugby in that game.
Scotland have improved, but still looking for decent line breakers.
Wales I fear are going backwards. The pressure is on Gatland, and I can see that getting to him and the team. Injuries could play a big part. I think where Wales fall down is that injuries in key positions mean no real backup
Italy as ever will have a strong pack, but Parise a big loss for them. I still expect them to make it difficult at Croke park.
Ireland.. well ye're all gunning for us this year. Again like Wales we have a few key positions (like Hayes) where very little cover, although Kidney is managing to patch that. All 4 provinces going well. A big ask to win in Paris, and I feel Eng will have momentum when we go to twickenham.
I don't see a slam this year. I see Eng France and Ireland tied on points with Eng winning on pts difference. However I can't back England so have laid a tenner on Ireland at 5/2, which will be worth a few pints if it comes in.0 -
Ireland have this in the bag this year, especially with O'Driscoll still in sparkling form. Wales will prob go close, along with France. England will be forever screwed until they get a fly half that can run on the gain line insted of sitting 20 yards back and kicking all day (although he has been playing well for Toulon this season) Sadly though for us Scots, it'll be a straight fight with Italy for the wooden spoon
My prediction:
Ireland (slam)
Wales
France
England
Scotland

Flutey out. Gutted.
Flood in to replace him.
Still looks a decent side, which is an improvement on the woeful autumn. Hopefully they can deliver a result (and a performance). Not climber, not sprinter, not rouleur0 -
As a London Irish man, obviously I want Ireland to win the thing but I can't help but worry about the scrum- really struggled against Aus and SA in the AIs and every tighthead will want to attack Hayes this year. Glad to see Trimble back in- he's earned it.0

As an England fan I'm afraid to say that Delon Armitage is crap. Although I hope he proves me wrong of course, he just cannot take a high ball without dropping it and /or knocking on. Just watch tomorrow!!"There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0

^ What he said.
Wales were just shite all-round though. Line-out was laughable, scrum was crap and our second most creative back was actually a prop.
James Hook was the only beacon of hope, and even he only played for 15 minutes.0 -

Alun Wyn Jones has the same birthday as me.
According to my dad (tennis/soccer player) James Hook was useless (his only evidence was the two missed kicks)0 -

You need a new dad. At least there was a bit of flair when Hook got decent ball (as opposed the shite that Cooper was sending his way for most of the match). And his try was a thing of beauty.
GOOD = Hook, Adam Jones
CRAP = AW Jones, Cooper, Ryan Jones, that hooker who's name I can't even remember (probably something Jones)
Even Lee Byrne was making a lot of stupid errors.0 -

Thanks, that's him. Not as if I'll need to remember his name though... doubt we'll be seeing much of him after that debut!0 -

Was that Charles 2 that scored one of your tries?"There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0 -

Once again mystified to why Ken Owens wasn't selected. Hopefully he'll have a good run to the end of the season and be selected for the summer tour.
Cooper was poor. Richie Rees definitely made more of an impact, but we can just hope Phillips/Peel will be back soon.
Byrne still looks rusty after the injury lay off and probably same for Shane Williams too. I'd expected them to beat Scotland next weekend, but that'll of course depend on the outcome of tomorrow's game and what improvement, if any, the Scots have made.0 -

I thought that was like his 9th cap?0 -

It was a comedy of errors.
Why do we (England) insist on kicking the ball back to teams. Keep hold, run straight, and work the phases.
Up and blunders... no thanks.0 -
I haven't got a clue how rugby works, just thought I'd add to the welsh wind up.0
