Twiggo dropping Bertie and Baby Schleck in the mountains.

Fantasy, I know, but just think of the warm tingly feeling rising through your chest if it actually did happen.

A Tour de France that's not a boring load of tosh.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • Gibo win a final stage on the Giro

Ricco return as a wrestling style bad guy.

A GC rider in the Tour take off on the second to last mountain pass of the day, build up a lead and take the yellow jersey at the finish. None of this "last 5km" nonsense.

I hope Wiggins retains his sense of humour and doesn't get any more big headed.

not sure that sort of riding can exist in the dope free peleton

A change in the tactics and smaller differences between the best and the very have caused that, surely?

To use old cyclocosm again, he mentions a few theories in the second half of his post here.

I agree, I'd like to see a yellow jersey fight that was exciting. I think it's too much to ask though...

Possibly. But I don't think you can understate the importance of doping

Would you be more interested in a Tour with longer - more fatiguing stages?

    Yes.

You'd need to race it differently rather than getting tooled up for a 30 minute effort at the end of a 4 hour ride.

In theory I'm in agreement, but the 09 Vuelta has left me a bit less sure about it. Seemed to be the riders were so intimadated by the course the racing became negative.

Why does every thread end up discussing doping?

Leaving aside the reasons for tactical changes in the last 25 years (it just happens, same as every sport) and going back to the original thread:

I'd like to see Geraint Thomas have a big season. I think he has it in him to be a top class rider (and he's a local boy).

Why does every thread end up discussing doping?

I feel this is a bit like stating the bloody obvious, but........ Because it was a huge factor in the results of many races, and many many people believe it still is. It's also separated fans into camps of pro and anti certain riders and organisations. In the modern world of 24 hour news truth is often lost in who has the best PR and media contacts. Many people are very incensed about what they see happening and can not get over their core beliefs about doping, so it then slips into every thread. You can state something that's reasonably certain, such as Lance Armstrong was according to the record books the best GC Tdf rider between 1999 and 2005, and there will still be a flood of people saying yeah but.......so in my books he wasn't.

As for me I'd like to see Brad win a mountain stage in the TdF having rode the wannabes like Contador and Schleck off his wheel :)
  • Cav in rainbow hoops, Wiggo in yellow.

    Agree with that.

I'd also like to see someone follow Devolder when he attacks in this year's Ronde.

As with others on here. Wiggins to podium at TdF. Cav green and worlds.

Gilbert to win a spring Monument and EBH to win a monument too.

+ A good, competetive, action packed Giro please!

Pozzato anyone? Or is Pozzato to Boonen's arse what a moth is to a flame?

  • Robert Millars autobiography
  • In the Tour:

    - Cav take the Green jersey

    - Wiggins crash (and either lose a load of time... or lose an eye!)

    - Cancellara kicking AC's ass in the TT

    - Hincapie win a stage

    - Jens Voigt win a stage

    - David Millar win a stage

    - Cadel Evans crash (see Wiggins crash for more info)

    - LA win the Tour

    In other races:

    - Hincapie win Paris-Roubaix

    - Dan Martin doing well in any race

    - Wiggins drinking too much beer, getting fat and being crap

    - Cadel Evans living up to the curse of the Rainbow jersey and doing crap
  • Dick Pound replacing Pat McQuaid as head of the UCI.

Patrice Clerc being put back in charge at the ASO.

Armstrong having his arse kicked all over France - just like in the days before he teamed up with Ferrari - then being busted for doping.
