    Good times.

    !!

I think you mean " I also think Portishead (self titled) and Leftfield's Leftism are up there with the best of Massive attack".

Or as I like to call, the holy trinity.

    Teagar, are you 34?

    Very similar tastes!

    Haha, off by 13 years.

Claim to faim actually - my GCSE history teacher was the sister of Paul Daley (yes, him from Leftfield!)

I remember we were on a history trip in Berlin, and we stayed in a very odd hotel. Her and me were the only peopel to notice the owner of the hotel (who incidently had an obsession with the word "bullsh!t! in a fine East German accent) had a total obsession with Massive Attack. Played nothing else in the lobby and lounge area all week.

So what's the initital verdict on the new album?

A few are straight from splitting the atom.

The amount of different collaborations certainly gives it a different feel to the more obviously dubby overtones of Horrace and crew.

Certainly smacks of the similar paranoia and edginess of mezzanine, but has breaths of being ever so slightly more upbeat. Certainly not as draining as 100th Window.

Pretty much what you'd expect in all honesty. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing!

I voted for 100th Window purely for the atmospherics of Futureproof and Butterfly Caught. I used to detour through the City on my home from my old bar job listening to that album - 4.30 am with london Wall to yourself gives you chills.

Does the instrumental on Butterfly Caught remind anyone else of the closing music on Gladiator?

    Can't say it does.

For me small time shot away and antistar are the stand-out tracks on 100th window.

  • Group Four off Mezzanine popped up on my shuffle yesterday.

What a blinding track - IMHO the best one on there. The angelic fragile voice over the dark trembling, brooding music and the build up towards the end. Superb.
