On second thoughts I've watched the video, read the specs and lucked at the picjers and I think it's pure sex and I can't wait to buy one.0

If only I'd been in that board meeting when it was being designed. I'd have said "Hey, what about adding a camera and making a deal with Skype?" Then it would at least have a use.It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Trust Stephen Fry to say he wants to "lick and fondle" it....0

I'm still trying to figure out why Stephen Fry, a famous comedian, was granted access to a technology fair. Since when has he been known as a techy person? It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Probably because they're grateful to him for knocking the touchscreen Blackberry, thus ensuring a few more iPhone sales.
But he's a bit of a twitter celebrity. He did what they wanted, went online and told people how amazing it is.0 -
Ah, another Apple bashing session, gotta love it
I am an Apple user, but the iPad.. hmm it just don't fit into my requirements, so I cound't comment on it as I don't need one and foresee myself ever owning one
Tablet PCs have been around for some time but it's never been a big seller with the public. Does Apple think they can change this? Time will tell..
As for the "tablet PC", the only environments I've seen them put to use is in the retail and medical sectors, usually in U.S. private hospitals, not the NHS..
As for you guys who hate Apple products, well, I feel that way about Specialized, Giant, Sony and New Labour
I just don't support them in any way and don't waste my energy bad mouthing them either.0 -

Also, apples are a kind of fruit, so they have a lot in common.0 -
I watched the launch, but not sure of the 'hole' they are trying to fill. It is a very small one. But no matter, tis an Apple, and that is what sells them stuff.0
-
I don't think it will be £300 whenever it is launched here either...
more likely remove the $ and add a £ instead....so probably £500 for the base model....of course..this is speculation...Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

The reason I hate the iPhone and this POS is the snobbery that has somehow become associated with them; "My iPhone is holier than thou" mentality. I would have bought an iPhone on day one, had it not been for the price. I've since seen friends turn into absolute d***s as they tell me my phone may as well have been made in the stone age. When I remind them I've been a user of Apple for at least 10 years, they then accuse me of 'not keeping up with them'

cee You're very probably right, that's how Apple seem to think the exchange currency works. You exchange one symbol for another. It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Ask them if it's got the Dart app. While they're looking confused, pick it up and hurl it at the dartboard.
Then say "Oh, you're still on the Beta then...."0 -

Oh the original 2002 iPad
... and Fujitsu has been using the name for its handheld point of sale devices since 2002. Could this get messy?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Fujitsu is consulting its lawyers about its legal rights to the iPad name.
The Tokyo technology company applied in 2003 for a trademark on its iPad, a handheld device that helps store clerks verify prices and check real-time inventory, the New York Times reports. The Times describes the device this way: “It’s sleek. It’s mobile. It has a touchscreen.”
Apple unveiled its iPad tablet computer yesterday, a device positioned between a laptop and a smartphone, the New York Times reported in its coverage of the 1½ pound touchscreen device.
Other companies use the iPad name as well, according to the Times and the Financial Times. A Canadian lingerie company has the right to use the name for its padded bras, and Siemens uses it for engines and motors.
Apple is seeking more time to oppose Fujitsu’s trademark application, according to the Times and Bloomberg. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office shows Fujitsu’s application was abandoned in early 2009, but the company revived it in June, the Times says. Apple used a registered agent to seek an international trademark for the iPad the following month.
Bloomberg interviewed Fujitsu lawyer Edward Pennington of Hanify & King in Washington, who said his client hadn't had any direct communications with Apple. “They probably need to talk to us,” he said.
The Wall Street Journal Law Blog noted the legal dispute. It titled its story, "Does Apple’s iPad Have an iP iProblem?""Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

It could work in Apples favour of course, because the name of the product has come under quite a lot of bad press, let alone the actual device. It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

I'm not a big apple fan. They done some good stuff in their time, but it seems they're more interested in image, sales, and stealing the market share than the super functional computers they'll have people believe they're about.
That said, some of their products are functional and innovative - though not as innovative as they'd have people believe. It's interesting, because if they keep pushing this stuff, it could become the new Windows. Touch screen computing. I just despise their marketing tactics.0 -
Apples are like oranges. But not blackberries. All are lemons though...0
