Hmmmmm........that looks inviting, we would have to split into several teams.

I would certainly give it a go seeing as the teams do it in a relay sense. it would knacker me doing it solo as am not that fit enough to do a 24 hour endurance.......''

The oppurtunity of the night riding appeals too.

    Cheshley,
That bit at the start of the video, ISN'T part of the trails round the forest, it's an offshoot downhill trail for people with DH rigs, it's not included on the normal XC route round, granted you pass right by it so if you fancied lobbing yourself of big drops and big jumps you can .
Only difficult as in a bit scarey is the back routes up Wheklpstone crag that you also pass on the red ruote so there again if you fancied "the slab" you can have a go :D

race looks good but im already signed up for two 24hr races already this year and 1 of them will probably be solo. So dont think the Mrs would agree to me spending even more time training for another race.

It's four people to a team, so we could do one lap each time (10 miles per lap) that would give you around 2hour 15mins break between each lap you do. i'm basing that on taking an average of 45 mins to do 10 miles which should be easily done without pacing yourself at a fast rate.

Maloo it's not this years it's next year Cheshley said we could give it a go.......

talking of tyres changed mine back from the bontager's mud x's to the jone's xr that came with the bike today
there's got to be an easy way of fitting them as i lost one inner tube due to pinching it, there just so tight. also what the best way to get the bead set right in the rim as it's not all gone in yet.

And yes i was using Tyre Lever's

I just wriggle the tube up into the carcass of the tyre before I use the levers , that seems to work ok for me.......as to seating the tyre I have to pump it up to maximum then let it down again if it's not right and wriggle the tyre about between fingers til it settles down and pump it back up again.
There's bound to be a better way, but I am just a newbie

  • shame here only the third time i've i've had to sort them out. first was a flat tyre on the back then when i took them off to put the muddy's on then today changing back.

not looking forward to having a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere when it's cold, raining and windy :(

If you are going to puncture is sually is when the wether is poo ....Hubby had one on a freezing cold day. I had to change the tube for him ( he is an I.T nerd and doesn't do getting his hands mucky  ) and my hands were freeeezing, which made for tyre levers flying about all over the place.....kept him amused anyway

  • well the only flat i've had so far was down at sherwood pines, only had the bike a few weeks

got it about 1 mile from the end just could'nt be bothered to stop and change tubes over as the bike was covered in thick sticky mud so kept stopping and pumping it up. got some good grip in the mud with the low tyre pressure which was a bonus.

    Folks

I've been trawling through the posts, but can;t find the info on the 10th April.

Can someone either direct me to the right page number, or repost the relevant info. I'm keen, just need to know what, where, when and how.

    Cheers

Just been watching that YouTube vid of Gisburn and all I saw was the sign at the start that says Skill, Full Face Helmet and Body Armour needed to ride here.

    Bollocks.

less than a week to go :o)
Bollocks it is.You could ride all of Gisburn on a rigid. When we were there at the slab bit one of us was on a HT and someone said "you're going down that on a HT" its a slab of rock..HT,FS Rigid it makes no difference..its a slab of rock
It's a trail centre,i:e designed to be ridden by all abilities so the "full face and armour" sign is just to cover them in this ever increasing "had an accident?sue the b*****ds" world we live in.

Sod that, it's the skill part I was more bothered about!!!!!!!

If one won't try then one won't learn........

If one falls off ..one won't do it wrong again........''

How about applying this kind of logical enthusiasm to thew Cut Gate idea...?

It will plan the route for you but won't give turn by turn instructions. I'm not driving so I can navigate.

The spesh has one rattly loose spoke on the back wheel. Am I going to throw the alignment out if I tighten it myself of should I get it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing?

    i dont know
but 1 spoke isnt going to make your bike unridable, you could risk it and do it yourself or take it to the lbs, where it should only be about a tenner
