As above, is this the case? I looked at some campag ones and am sure they're much ticker and abit longer too? If so, seems abit of a rip off the Shimano ones.

Remember that my Campag pads were about 6months old too. So far from new.

Are Campag and Shimano cartridges different? If so then it's hardly a rip off. They're just making a pad that fits. Even so, if they stop your bike then they're hardly a rip off.

Don't take this personally, but are you a real tightarse? I mean this, plus you grumbling about having to sand down pads because of rim wear indicators? If so, how large would your ideal 'Freehub: Great Value Pads' have to be?

Well I'd say Shimano users are getting done down. Campag Koolstops seem to be about twice as thick as the shimano ones. I think for once Will has a genuine gripe.

Fair play, surely there's a reason though?

It's abit hard to do a direct comparison, I only have shimano ones here.

If everyone decided to do things like that this forum would be dead. I'd rather try and get an answer off here than write to koolstop, wait days and days to get a reply (if every)

For something to compare size, 2x AA batteries. Don't mind the chick pea at the top of the pic.

Also, check the WIggle page showing them all:

He's got a point. I suspect some sort of conspiracy.

Is it possible that I can buy the campag cartridge and fit em to 105 brakes?

The holders are different shapes. If you could get hold of some Campag holders, they should fit the Shimano callipers. Alternatively, and cheaper, I don't see why these wouldn't fit– and there's a whole lot of pad material.

where did you get that chickpea? It looks tiny! i think you're getting ripped off, Asda chickpeas are bigger than that.

maybe the chick-pea hasn't yet been soaked overnight. Perhaps that would work with Will pads too... :?

It was a dried spicy chick pea out of a packet.

So has anyone else got the Shimano Kool Stop pads and are they the exact same size?

Have you tried the AA batteries? They look much thicker. How well do they stop in the wet??

I've just looked at the pic again. If they're leather mug coasters, then I have to agree, the Kool Stops are tiny.

The batteries are a good size comparison I think, everyone knows what size AA batteries are.

I don't think they'll fit. I once bought Campag holders and pads by mistake and they were too chunky for Shimano 6500 calipers. Also, I seem to remember that the mounting screws were too big for the slots in the Shimano. It seems that the two systems are just different shapes and sizes - I don't think it's Koolstop's fault.

Sorry - I've never been very good with scale. I thought the thing top left was a bogey, and the two orange/metal tubes next to the brake pads was the Oxygen tank of the Action Man Diver.

Our shower isn't too good with scale either. Having to dunk the shower head in descaler on a weekly basis at the moment.

Next house will definitely have space for a water softener.

Do you want me to take a dump and put the pads next to them for scale or something?

That depends on what you've eaten. If it's a diet of chick-peas, any pads would probably look small in comparison.

Could be the angle of the camera, but they looked flat to me.

According to Wiggle, the Campag pads are 90p more expensive than the Shimano pads. So, not quite so simple, now....

How the **** is taking a picture having way too much time on my hands.........

Honestly, how can that be freaking hard? They look alarmingly thin and they are BRAND NEW there FFS, my OLD shimano blocks are thicker than those when I bin em..... I have seen the campag koolstops and that's why I thought wtf, because they are indeed allot smaller and was wondering if they all are, of if I've got a dud set.

They're 7 quid, I'm not about to shell out 7 quid for a pair of brake blocks when they don't even last that long, I can't just throw away money like you can

They won't last that long anyway as you've bought the uber-soft salmon compound.
