Yep, that be me! I'm a lot less serious in real life mind...0 -
I won a competiton in the Radio Times to go and see Empire Strikes Back being made at Elstree (along with all the Star Wars figures and a cardboard Death Star). Was very ill at the time with pneumonia and hooping cough so my memory is a little hazy but I do remember having a coughing fit during lunch, my dad taking me to the loo and mid-retch glancing round to see Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill glancing over my dad's shoulder asking "is the little guy okay?"0

I had to scratch my head here, but I did dredge up that several ages ago I won a motorcycle sprint on the prom' at Blackpool. Even a mention in MCN that week. What glory!
Nearer to modern times, I got shafted by an online company in the States over a camera I'd bought off them. They sent me the wrong model and mysteriously gave up answering my emails about me returning it. Ultimately, months later, the bank coughed up the £900 I'd paid with my CC, and I still got to keep the camera. Which, I suppose, is a 'win' of some kind."Lick My Decals Off, Baby"0 -

Various (running) races and leagues over the years but nothing beats the Corby Trouser Press I won for 7th place in Race the Train one year.
Since I own no pairs of trousers that have ever needed pressing I now wish I'd slowed down and got 8th prize instead
Did sell it for £50 though.0 -
Got 5 balls on the lottery a few months ago, winning £1250. Off to the LBS tomorrow to have a chat about upgrading to Campag Chorus 11 speed.
Once won a camera for sending in a picture of our cat.
When I was a kid my dad won a competition for me to play football with Kevin Keegan. It was back in the early 80's when he was at Newcastle. What a brilliant day out that was.0 -

As a teenager I went with my dad when he was checking out the cars in a local showroom. They had a competition to guess how many tennis balls they had got into the boot of a car. I worked it out instead of guessing. I think I was only about 5 or 6 balls out and about 50 closer than the next best entry. We won lots of little bits and pieces. Travel rug, picnic hamper, thermos flasks, cool box, etc. etc.
Later in life I won a pair of cycling glasses from Cycling Weekly, some software from Computer Shopper, and the best prize of all was a synthesiser work station from Sound on Sound magazine (worth about £1,800 at the time).
Oh, and £50 prizes in 3 consecutive premium bond draws.0 -
Two return flights to Australia, courtesy of Quantas, the Mail on Sunday's "Night and Day" supplement and a local radio station, Gemini FM.
Back in 1997, I went to the Walkabout Bar in Exeter with a mate from Sunderland. He wanted to see Newcastle get stuffed by Stevenage Borough in an FA Cup replay. We watched the game (Newcastle won) and when work colleagues arrived we stayed on in the pub for what was already a fairly serious Sunday afternoon bevvy session.
There was a "answer a few questions on Oz, and put your name in a hat" draw (which I later learnt had been running in the aforementioned rag supplement and also via the local radio), and we all entered. But you had to be there on the night to collect your prize, which meant staying on until 10pm. Two people "won" before me, but weren't there to collect their prize. I was absolutely hammered when they called out my name, and can barely remember getting photographed with some scantily clad eye Oz candy on each arm.
I gave one of the two flights to the bloke from Sunderland, and we watched the Arsenal vs Newcastle final in a bar in Oz. The thing I'd like to see is the press photos of me (after 7+ hours of heavy drinking) and the swimsuit babes!0 -

bar the football stuff as a kid & a computer once, my fav is the following:
when I was a student I used to play the lottery & won 3/4 numbers a few times. The best time was when my brother came down to go cycling, asked if he wanted to bet on the National & he said betting is a mugs game.
We went for a ride & stopped in a pub to watch the National, I won the jackpot on the fruit machine, my horse came in on the national & bought a lottery on the way home and got four numbers! He was pig sick!0 -
Thought I'd got 4 numbers on last weekends lottery Then I looked again at the website and had the time period set for the last 6 months I did argue the toss when Euromillions started to get bundled with the raffle thing, said to the shop owner I only asked for the Euromillions ticket and not the raffle, when checking the numbers later they came good to the tune of £39I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

What about a thread for what you might have won.Can i start,
On my one and only visit to a horse racing day at Haydock Park i went with a group of workmates who were sure were going to win bigtime with the bookies. On going into Haydock Park we bumped into some cracking looking birds so Ademort got talking to them, had a drink and was given the winners of the first four races, these girls seemed to know their stuff, i went back to my mates and said here if we put 20 quid on these four we can win 1500 quid according to the girls. I must add at this point that i have no idea about horse racing. My mates all laughed and said you can better keep your money they are all donkeys that you want to back. Ok, so i went and bet with my mates, we won naff all and sure enough the four horses that the girls gave me all won. My mates calculated that we would have won nearly 1800 quid and not 1500 quid as stated.ademort
