Ever won anything, or been gifted anything unexpectedly? The lottery? A year's supply of Winalot? £24,000,000 from a Nigerian law farm acting on behalf of a deceased relative you didn't know you had? :D

Well, I am now the proud owner of a Pearl Izumi 'limited edition' black Garmin jersey. 8) I won it in the free draw at my new LBS (Bemoore Bikes in Lymm - they deserve a plug!) . It's rather nice in black and looks pretty cool on.

What have you won?

I won tickets to see dashboard confessional in a radio competition, it's the only thing I've ever won.

    The tickets never came :(

5 numbers up on the Irish Lotto and won €1400. Went out to celebrate and on way home my partner hit a pothole and went over the handlebars, landed on her face and fractured her jaw in 3 places.

Won school 800m and 1500m setting new school records - first year sports in metric there, records only lasted 1 year, still got certificates from that.

Won Lucky 7 quiz on LBC about 20 years ago, got a t shirt, bottles of wine, mugs, stickers and other crap.

Won Football World Cup book off Time Out just before Italia 90.

Won 2 tickets to opening match of Rugby League World Cup at Wembley, was the centenary of the League and there was a big parade and then Diana Ross singing.

    £50 premium bond.

    That's about it really.

Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
  • Sorry, I was part of the team that won the West Cumberland Midweek Cricket League Div. 1 in 2000. You'd think we'd won the Ashes.

Won a few pub quizzes as part of teams (Mrs Blu3cat is a great quiz player), although the best moment was when we drew with another team in one of the more salubrious establishment in SW London, and were happy with second as the other team had a man-mountain who had corrected someone who challenged the answer to a question: What does CPS stand for by saying "Crown Prosecution Service - they're the B*stards that did me last month". Ah well second still payed for the beers for the night.

I won a Rapha jersey here on Bikeradar! It was only second prize, but the first prize was some less than attractive team kit so I was pretty pleased.

2005 - Wales V All Black Tickets from the BBC.

It was the year Wales won their first Grand Slam for yonks, and so Everyone in Wales was Rugby fan again, so I couldn't get any tickets no matter how hard I tried. 2004 I had got Tickets for Wales v All Blacks with no difficulty, but in 2005 there were too many Glory Supporters.

The day before the match I was in an exam, and I had my phone on me on silent  , didn't answer though. Luckily the same number rang me an hour later saying I'd won tickets for the match.

The tickets were priceless to me. We ended up getting hammered 40-3 or something in the end

It was like winning a prize when i met my girlfriend. Younger than me, great-looking,fantastic cook and er....'other stuff' a superb bike rider who now can outsprint a lot of cyclists both on the road and at the track. She loves Assos kit/Sidi shoes etc so no problem with buying the good stuff and we can have more bikes :D:D Downside? Her family are just ordinary like me so no inheritance :(

Otherwise, various Premium Bonds, a voucher towards some jewellery,a radio and a days sailing at Cowes courtesy of the Radio Times

I used to work with someone who entered those competitions where you eg buy a pan to win a trip to France or a case of lager to visit the brewery. Often it involved writing a caption and he was a regular winner, visiting Canada (Molson) and various cities in Europe. His best ever was a competiton for a pasta company and he won a cookery holiday in Italy with 11 others. These 12 winners were then entered in a draw for a Ferrari which he won!! He kept it for a year and sold it on for about £50k (this was in the 80s).

Won tickets to see The Cure. Half a dozen bands did one off charity gigs for WarChild. The idea was that the band played at clubs that they started their careers in. The Cure played at The Camden Barfly infront of 200 people. They did 3 hrs & they seemed to love it as much as the crowd. It was a "winners" night & we were offered silly money outside the venue for the tickets. That was a non starter tho as you needed your passport/ winners email /special code thing to get in.

I won £125 in a Sainsbury's competition to celebrate their 125 year. Came second in a 75 km mountain bike race, if that counts, I thought I'd won, but I hadn't. Won the OU MBA finance (B821) residential course pub quiz in 2004.

Won a rucksack in a health and safety quiz where I work. The amazing thing was that the quiz was in German, and at the time I didn’t speak German (still not that good), so I’d guessed the multiple choice answers, and still won!
