Personally, I find Ivan Drago a little one-dimensional.

Don't get me wrong, he's good at what he does. Sure he's big, powerful and very fit, but only tends to excel in exhibition bouts against 'has-been' champions, who dance to James Brown, where he can apply his sole approach of 'death from above'.

When he comes up against stiffer competion, such as the Italian Stallion, he finds it tough going. Like hitting a price of Iron.

Then again, if he can change. And Rocky can change. And the audience can change. We can all change.
 Had me in stitches, especially the last part.
  • Would love to see him go up against Cav some of the overhead footage of the past couple of sprints looks like he has a very similar kick.
Take care of the luxuries and the necessites will take care of themselves.

He does look impressive in the last 500m or so - he manages to carry his speed all the way to the line, where others seem to die a little bit in the final 50m. Brute strength. Not sure about whether he has the same change of speed.accesleration that Cav has, but doesn't look like a he needs it - similar to Pettachi in his prime.
  • Some riders don't see being one dimentional as such a bad thing.
C.T: Looking back when you were a developing rider, what do you wish you had done differently in training knowing what you know now?

Simon Gerrans: I wish that I focused more on what I was good at earlier on. As a young rider you try to be good at everything. You’re trying to be sprinter, a climber, in the breakaways…everything. Ultimately your goal as an amateur rider is to be professional. Its really hard when you don’t have a strength – like the guys who are great sprinters. They win a lot sprints from a young age, turn professional and they become sprinters. It has taken me until the past couple of years to figure out what I’m going to be good at. I was figuring it out as I went. I was a smaller guy so I thought maybe I could be a climber but I’m not going down that path. It was eating at me that I was a jack of all trades but master of none.

I guess Andre found he was a master of the Flat Sprint.
Poor bastard, I feel sorry for the guy. :P
